Our mission here at The Muse is simple: to help you find your dream job. So, there’s nothing we love more than hearing about it when you do!
Today we chatted with Kaitlin Mahood, who just got a brand-new job as a Talent Specialist for Spredfast, helping this enterprise social media marketing company attract the best people for its team.
Tell us about yourself!
Prior to working at Spredfast, I worked as a recruiter for the international team at GLG, connecting our Asia-Pacific clients with industry professionals for due diligence and research. I enjoy recruiting and talent acquisition because I love working with people and find fulfillment in connecting them to exciting career opportunities that allow for personal and professional growth. I look forward to cultivating my recruiting skills and helping grow Spredfast’s workforce.
What were you looking for in a job?
When I began my job search, I looked for positions that would enhance my talent acquisition skills and help me learn more about human resources and talent development. It was important that I be in a role that would provide opportunity to learn and see the impact of my work. Knowing that Spredfast is a growing company, I felt it would be a great opportunity to directly contribute to a growing workforce.
What stuck out to you about Spredfast when you found it on The Muse?
I was immediately attracted to the company’s open workspace and culture. The vibrancy of the office and employee passion and enthusiasm was evident from the interview videos and office photos. I was also intrigued by Spredfast’s social software platform and quickly saw the value of its products in today’s marketplace. I knew right away that I wanted to be part of this innovative and exciting company.
What’s something most people would find surprising about working at Spredfast?
Spredfast fosters a progressive and non-traditional workplace. This is an employee-friendly environment that promotes flexibility. While the assumption may be that employee efforts are laid back as well, just the opposite is true. The employees here are professional, motivated, and highly productive, proving that this sort of environment is beneficial to both employees and employer.
What’s your favorite part so far about working at Spredfast?
I love how collaborative and friendly everyone is. There is a positive energy that radiates throughout the office and a strong vibe that everyone enjoys coming to work. One of Spredfast’s values is “teamswork,” meaning while we all technically work on specific teams, we are all one team working to achieve a common goal. It leads to a strong sense of community.

How did you use The Muse to help you in your job search?
I found that The Muse was incredibly valuable in not only helping me find job opportunities but also gaining insight into company culture. The employee interviews, office photos, and basic information provide an insider’s view of what it is like to work for the company. The Muse helped me better understand each company’s products, services, culture, and goals—and most importantly allowed me to see if I could visualize myself as a member of the team.
What advice would you have for someone who wanted a job like yours?
Be confident and able to clearly articulate why you want the job and how you will positively contribute to growing the company’s talent. It is important to demonstrate strong communication (both written and verbal) and people skills, as you will interact with candidates and colleagues or hiring teams regularly. It is also helpful to let your friendly personality shine throughout the interview process. You are often the first line of interaction with a candidate and an important representative of the company.
