Join GE Vernova, as a Senior Tendering Engineering Manager and play a pivotal role in advancing HVDC Substation technology, a cornerstone for Europe's ambitious renewable energy targets. As a key leader in our team, you will oversee the technical coordination and management of tenders for HVDC substations. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards in engineering cost efficiency, timely delivery, and quality across the full scope of substation tender engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the consolidation and timely submission of all technical tender deliverables.
  • Oversee the division of engineering scope among project stakeholders.
  • Track critical activities and ensure effective coordination across GE technical teams.
  • Facilitate technical sessions, design reviews, and validation meetings.
  • Define and manage project engineering budgets, including man-hours and resources.
  • Develop and implement the technical tender strategy.
  • Consolidate project risks and opportunities, and drive mitigation/action plans.
  • Lead the design freeze process and validate designs through risk assessment and reviews.
  • Collaborate with project leaders on execution design strategy and overall project strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with customer technical requirements.
  • Organize and lead technical meetings, manage queries, and ensure consistent, high-quality communication.
  • Coordinate technical document management with the Proposal Manager.
  • Validate engineering documents for consistency and compliance before release.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of tender engineering outputs.
  • Optimize designs for cost-effectiveness and contract compliance.
  • Review and approve Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for sourcing, logistics, and construction.
  • Deploy and manage engineering tools (e.g., CAD, costing tools).
  • Organize and lead design reviews, integrating EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) requirements.
  • Adhere to quality procedures and resolve non-conformances promptly.
  • Implement EHS standards in design phases.
  • Demonstrate proactive EHS leadership and participate in risk mitigation.

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in EPC environments within Transmission & Distribution, Power Generation, or Oil & Gas sectors.
  • Expertise in key engineering domains such as civil works, plant configuration, control & protection hardware, system/performance studies, or electrical design.
  • Proven track record in managing complex technical projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional coordination skills with a focus on delivering results.
  • Solid understanding of project execution risks and financial processes.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
  • Demonstrated ownership, strategic thinking, sound judgment, and a passion for driving the energy transition.
  • Fluent in English (German is a plus), with the ability to communicate complex topics clearly and succinctly.

This position is offered as a remote role; however, candidates must be based in Germany. We do have a preference for candidates located in or near Berlin, Dresden, or Erlangen.
