Senior Financial Analyst (M&A)

Mexico City, Mexico

We are seeking a talented and driven Senior Analyst to join Zendesk, a dynamic market leader in customer experience software, in a new role on the Finance & Strategy team focusing on critical cross-functional initiatives. The primary responsibilities of this project-based role is to partner with leaders across the Zendesk business to perform financial analysis of initiatives, including acquisitions (at all stages of deal from evaluation, due diligence through integration), strategic partnerships, new market entry, monetization approaches, opportunity sizings, and more. The ideal candidate should have about 5 years of experience, with at least two years in investment banking, and exhibit both a strong background in financial modeling and analysis as well general business acumen, preferably SaaS business.

What you will be working on:

Conduct financial modeling and analysis: Utilize your expertise in financial modeling and analysis to help evaluate critical cross-functional initiatives, especially acquisitions. As part of execution, build and implement processes for ongoing performance evaluation as well as integrating into broader company financial roll-up.

Perform due diligence: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct comprehensive due diligence, including market sizing and analysis, review of financials and contracts, customer and transaction roll-up, initial investment sizing, and more. Identify risks and form mitigation plans.

Drive recommendations: Provide data-driven insights and analysis to support go/no-go evaluations, advise on transaction / partnership structure, and ensure business cases meet Zendesk Finance standards.

Contribute to execution: Develop approach to measure how we execute to critical initiative business plan, and build reporting cadence for performance reviews in conjunction with cross-functional stakeholders. Identify and execute on supplemental projects (e.g. synergy capture) that follow an initial workstream. Partner with the cross-functional Finance organization to identify challenges and build systems, processes, and tools to support ongoing M&A efforts.

Act as Finance business partner throughout the integration process. Partner with business owners to build and forecast full P&L. Own finance business partnering operations including driving cost management, vendor integration, and workforce planning.

Prepare reports and presentations: Create detailed reports and presentations that crisply summarize findings and recommended actions. Present findings to senior management as member of cross-functional team, providing clear and concise recommendations based on your analysis.

Who are we looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field. An MBA or CFA designation is a plus but not required.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in investment banking or another transaction-focused role.
  • Strong financial modeling skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets. Familiarity with SaaS / software financial reporting standards and metrics as well as valuation approaches.
  • Solid understanding of financial statements and ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and priorities.
  • Knowledge of the software industry and familiarity with technology-based acquisitions is preferred.
