The Legal & Policy Team is Snap’s dedicated in-house law firm, policy consultant, lobbyist, thought partner, and all-around advisor. This team helps Snap do the right thing the right way, make better decisions, understand and manage risks, and creatively navigate challenges, both external and internal. We partner with Snap team members on a wide array of matters, including privacy, product, IP, commercial transactions, corporate governance, employment, acquisitions, litigation, and policy, and social impact. We’re looking for a Commercial Counsel to join our team. You’ll play a key role in structuring, drafting, and negotiating a wide variety of contracts and advising on legal issues spanning the breadth of Snap’s products and services globally. Working from our Paris office, you’ll collaborate with colleagues throughout the company to develop creative solutions that manage risk, with a focus on our digital advertising business.

What you’ll do:

  • Draft, negotiate, review, and interpret agreements covering the full breadth of Snap’s commercial activities: advertising sales, ad tech, e-commerce, intellectual property and media content licensing, services, software development, NDAs, events agreements, and partner/vendor agreements

  • Manage multiple deals and support colleagues to ensure business initiatives are executed accurately and on time

  • Provide tactical and strategic advice to Snap business and product leaders related to commercial transactions

  • Occasionally collaborate with outside counsel

  • Coordinate with colleagues from every part of the company as part of cross-functional teams addressing commercial matters

  • Handle projects at the discretion of the leads of the Snap legal commercial team

  • Advise business clients on legal issues and risks, company policies, and business strategy

  • Assist in creating and improving agreements and templates for Snap as we develop new products and enter new international markets

  • Exercise sound judgment when negotiating key business and legal terms

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a high attention to detail

  • Background working with both internal and external partners

  • Excellent legal and business judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously

  • Ability to drive collaboration and enjoys sharing knowledge and expertise

  • Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, negotiation, and drafting skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization

  • Ability to accommodate tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

  • Ability to identify and resolve legal issues quickly

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A qualified, practising lawyer with 3-5 years’ in-house and private practice experience (both preferred).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience handling international commercial transactions, ideally in-house at an internet or technology company

  • Experience drafting, negotiating, and advising clients on digital ad sales, and consumer/advertising regulation.
