The Legal & Policy Team is Snap’s dedicated in-house law firm, policy consultant, lobbyist, thought partner, and all-around advisor.  This team helps Snap do the right thing the right way, make better decisions, understand and manage risks, and creatively navigate challenges, both external and internal.  We partner with Snap team members on a wide array of matters, including privacy, product, IP, commercial transactions, corporate governance, employment acquisitions, litigation, policy, and social impact.  The Legal & Policy Team values diversity and knows it powers us as we build an innovative and inclusive leadership culture centered on Snap’s values of Kind, Smart, and Creative.

We’re looking for a Senior Commercial Counsel to join Snap! As a member of the Legal team and working from our London office, you’ll play a key role in Snap’s commercial transactions and advise teams throughout the company on legal issues spanning the breadth of Snap’s products and services. 

What you’ll do:

  • Draft, negotiate, review, and interpret agreements covering a range of Snap’s commercial activities around the world, including for Snap’s hardware and platform products.  These include hardware purchase and sale terms, supply chain and manufacturing agreements, logistics agreements, R&D and technology development agreements, enterprise agreements for existing Snap products and innovative new products and services, IT and outsourcing agreements and platform terms (B2B and B2C).

  • Analyze and advise on complex issues related to hardware manufacture and distribution, data privacy, intellectual property, technology development, data licensing, R&D, software and hardware integrations, e-commerce and partnerships. 

  • Provide tactical and strategic advice to Snap business and product leaders related to commercial transactions

  • Advise business clients on company policies, business strategy, and legal issues and risks

  • Assist in creating and improving agreements, templates, and policies for Snap as we develop new products and enter new markets

  • Exercise sound judgment when negotiating business and legal terms

  • Occasionally collaborate with outside counsel

  • Coordinate with colleagues from every part of the company as part of cross-functional teams addressing commercial matters

  • Handle projects at the discretion of the leads of the Snap legal commercial team

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of hardware, manufacturing and supply chain ecosystem in an international setting

  • Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, negotiation, and drafting skills

  • Excellent legal and business judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously

  • Ability to drive collaboration and enjoy sharing knowledge and expertise

  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization

  • Ability to accommodate tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

  • Ability to identify and resolve legal issues quickly

Minimum Qualifications:

  • English law qualified, PQE with in-house and private practice experience 

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of technology deals including for the purchase and provision of hardware and manufacturing services in an international setting

  • Experience working for a company that develops, manufactures and supplies goods / hardware or transactional law firm specializing in complex manufacturing and technology deals

  • Minimum of 6+ years of relevant post-qualification legal experience (e.g. at a law firm or as in-house counsel)
