As the Head of Digital Studio, you will be responsible for leading the teams that achieve innovative and best-in-class interactive experiences across Patagonia.com and all other digital platforms to drive the e-commerce business and create pathways to action at every digital touchpoint with the brand. With a deep knowledge and passion for our planet, design, interaction and technology, you will inspire our team to see opportunities and drive a customer-centric point of view. Through your leadership and vision, Patagonia’s digital presence will continue to provide engaging experiences that amplify our mission to save the home planet.

Leading the Digital Studio team, you will support the day-to-day operations of maintaining a frictionless customer experience across our digital landscape. All while bringing to life an evolved, radically impactful online experience that inspires new thinking and empowers environmental activism. You will manage internal teams focused on digital experiences in the areas of technology, experience design, product management, paid media, activism, digital community, CRM, analytics & testing and operations. You will lead a digital first transformation inside Patagonia that will boost digital capabilities and provide mentorship and digital thought leadership across all business units, departments and teams.. Helping lead the digital process from idea to concept, from production to launch, ensuring excellence, consistency and quality of design thinking throughout.

 

What You’ll Do:  

  • Provide inspirational leadership, strategic vision and mentorship to the digital studio. 

  •   Foster inclusive and collaborative workstreams within digital studio, and partner with the head of the creative studio to align on digital needs and execution. 

  • Responsible for understanding the strategic objectives of the business and creating goals from such objectives that are technically sound, feasible and timely. 

  • Guide the teams to create specific e-commerce marketing strategies, product road-map, systems, applications and processes and will manage the development of annual budgets and forecasts in order to develop an aggregated view of all ongoing digital initiatives and connect them to the strategic-level vision. 

  • Research, recommend and lead strategy development and multi-year strategic digital vision and annual priorities to progress digital across all areas of the business. 

  • Identify competing business priorities and collaborate with your team to develop high quality analysis and deliverables that clearly frame growth objectives, issues/challenges, and articulate compelling, insightful findings, conclusions, and recommendations. 

  • Synthesize data, identify key market developments and customer insights, prepare analysis to support senior leadership decision-making and define priorities that bring our most critical digital initiatives to life.

  • Lead the Digital Technology team to support long term strategy for Patagonia’s global technology stack related to the digital experience and commerce in partnership with the Head of IT and the PMO.

  • Collaborate closely with the customer insights team to define business needs for Customer Data Platform.  

  •   Develop actionable solutions for the most challenging emerging issues and digital opportunities facing our company.  

  •   Drive impact & action through all Patagonia owned digital platforms, including Product Circularity, Activism and Ecommerce, to develop and advance the company’s mission.   

  •   Assist in the planning and execution of the Global Strategic Planning Process. 

  • Lead strategy management and execution, including guiding the development of strategy action plans and measurement systems across balanced scorecards and regular business review meetings. 

  • Serve as a thought-leader across the company for macro, micro, and market insights, synthesizing trends and identifying opportunities and risks that influence our current and future initiatives and strategic positioning.  

  •    Evolve the web analytics and testing functions for the e-commerce group producing accurate, actionable insight to the e-commerce leadership team related to optimizing the site experience.  

  •   Guide the enhancements of the company’s digital experience and strategy that support relevant and authentic content and interactive experiences that align with our environmental and business goals.  

  • Relentlessly drive initiatives from loose concept through final delivery, ensuring uncompromising standards of quality at every step. 

  • Drive a seamless digital experience via sharp consumer journeys focused on driving cutting-edge digital experiences that support retail, transparency and activism. 

  • Responsible for driving demand and meeting e-commerce business goals in North America, including both financial profit and loss and impact metrics of success.  

  • Manage a multi-million dollar budget for paid search, online marketing, web services including development, hosting, as such is responsible for securing contracts, and ensuring the delivery of agreed to services.  

  • Provide oversight and input during architecture review during define, design and build phases of development lifecycles.

Experience you bring:  

  • 10+ years experience in digital customer-centric leadership.  

  •  Experience leading brand, content, and communication design experience, with substantial exposure to a wide variety of disciplines and channels including online and offline advertising, video, social and interactive multimedia to amplify brand strategy and storytelling  

  • Experience running a large successful ecommerce business.

  • Inspirational leadership, team builder and team player.  

  • Strong mentoring and team-building experience.  

  • Strong digital and social media campaign experience.  

  • Able to work well under pressure and deadlines.  

  • Comfortable with team-based work structure; ability to remain flexible to change within the work environment and scope of responsibility.  Strong working knowledge in modern web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, and of native iOS/Android apps.  

  •   Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, InVision, Principle, Framer, and Adobe’s Creative Suite.

  • Knowledge of digital platforms and assets including Programmatic display and social media  

  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational database structures and experienced with release control software such as RSYNC.
