MLB Japan’s Marketing & Content team is responsible for executing marketing and brand activations targeting the Japanese audience. Activities include online/offline brand projects, paid media, social media, and event promotions for MLB’s domestic and global events. The Senior Manager specializing in social/digital will be responsible for growing MLB’s social media presence and outreach in Japan, through planning and execution of digital campaigns, content development, influencer activations, and other collaborations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in social media strategy and operations, experience collaborating with influencers/celebrities, and bring strong bilingual communication skills to drive synergies with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Social Media Strategy

  • Develop social media strategies for MLB’s Japanese channels, focusing on maximizing community growth and brand recognition
  • Work closely with community management and creative agencies to develop and maintain day-to-day publishing that aligns with market objectives
  • Communicate with internal/external stakeholders to maintain a content calendar that integrates key moments of MLB’s season, global campaigns, and coverage of MLB’s local initiatives in Japan
  • Maintain communications and relationships with local/global platforms to create tie-up opportunities that amplify MLB’s reach for key activations and moments in the season
  • Assist in creating reports, documents, translations, and content text as needed

Content Development

  • Identify and collaborate with top-tier influencers and celebrities to create new brand and reach opportunities targeting both local (Japanese) and global audiences
  • Work with agencies, creators, and other IP holders to realize high-impact content collaborations allowing MLB to reach new audiences
  • Oversee the expansion of editorial content through media relations, and coordination with writers

Qualifications & Skills

  • At least eight (8) years’ experience overseeing social media and/or content strategy and operations for a consumer-facing brand
  • Experience or knowledge relating to all facets of social media, including analytics, paid social, campaigns, and publishing
  • Strong command of both English (native) and Japanese (native)
  • Strong industry relationships built over years of work with agencies, platforms, and freelancers
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Communications, or related field is required
  • Must possess excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Detail oriented and able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a demanding, fast-paced, high-exposure environment
  • Great teammate with strong project management and organizational skills
