We are seeking a highly experienced Industrial Hygienist to join our team. You will be responsible for developing strategic initiatives and goals for the Industrial Hygiene program, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.In this role, you will assess and provide industrial hygiene evaluations for new and changing processes involving chemical reactions within benchtop, semiconductor tools, and other research and development equipment. You will also partner with the environmental team to assess and recommend controls using a risk-based approach, documenting recommendations, and providing assessment summaries and education to key stakeholders.You should hold expertise in assessing chemical reactions to ensure evaluation for potential by-products or other adverse conditions associated with proposed experiments, utilizing hazard analysis methodology. Additionally, you will review proposed designs for new processes, including ventilation systems, and provide input on controls in collaboration with the EHS Safety Engineering project lead.

Industrial Hygienist Responsibilities:
  • Leads development and improvement of all IH programs globally
  • Leads exposure assessment program for all locations and maintenance of IH/ Employee Exposure Database and is responsible for drawing conclusions for statistical sampling to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and health surveillance
  • Provides in-depth assessment support at Meta sites globally, across North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia
  • Supports the implementation and maintenance of core industrial hygiene programs, working closely with EHS team members globally
  • Serves as a cross-functional resource for industrial hygiene
  • Drives completion and supports assessment of IH qualitative data in collaboration with the site EHS, analyzes said qualitative data and uses that data to develop IH monitoring plans for IH quantitative assessments, develops IH monitoring proposals for 3rd party vendors, collaborates with Site EHS to set up and schedule IH monitoring, reviews and provides comments on 3rd party vendor IH reports, conducts IH employee notifications of IH results, and ensures IH reports/database and notifications are kept and maintained
  • Collaborates with the site EHS to ensure medical surveillance monitoring is set up and completed for any personnel exceeding action levels or triggering health surveillance criteria
  • Directs and conducts highly complex studies and analyses without technical direction and develops and monitors procedures, guidelines, and policies that are the foundation of the program or specialty area
  • Inspects and evaluates work operations, research methods, and engineering controls to determine potential contaminant emission sources or related health hazards associated with workplace conditions
  • Conducts investigations of working conditions in places of employment for the prevention of occupational disease and industrial health hazards, with specific reference to toxic substances, noise, and harmful physical agents
  • Uses ventilation testing equipment and special measuring devices for the determination of airflow rates, noise, lasers, and other physical factors in the workplace
  • Evaluates investigation findings and interprets data relative to working conditions and potential health hazards
  • Prepares reports covering findings, proposed corrective measures, and compliance with health rules and standards
  • Determines effectiveness of engineering control methods and makes recommendations regarding location, design, structure, operations, and maintenance of contaminant and physical agent control systems
  • Reviews plans for health hazard control procedures and examines, for approval, plans and specifications of proposed contaminant and physical agent control systems
  • Consults with the safety engineering, radiation safety, environmental engineering, and operational safety team regarding industrial hygiene problems and solutions
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience developing and assessing occupational exposures, performing process safety, hazard analysis or complex chemical engineering work
  • Experience in Semiconductor/Fab or similar industry working with and assessing toxic gasses, novel chemistries, and nano-particles
  • Technical writing experience
  • Hand-on experience in a research and development environment
  • Knowledgeable in EHS state and federal laws and legislative processes including OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1000, ACGIH TLV, and NIOSH Analytical Methods
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of chemistry, mathematics, and physics with considerable knowledge of industrial processes, equipment, and materials used in the workplace
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene or a related field
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist
  • International experience

$129,000/year to $185,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
