Production Manager

Responsibilities

The Production Manager is a strategic position within the division, responsible for establishing strong working relationships externally with municipal staff to effect smooth and timely plan checks and building permit processes, and with the internal division team to manage production starts to meet business plan metrics for starts, cycle time, and closings.

  • Establish strong working relationships with municipal staff where Meritage operates to facilitate plan review and approval, and the building permit application submittal and issuance;
  • Collaborate with internal operations team members and external trade partners to set production starts cadence and communicate the same to all stakeholders on a weekly or more frequent basis;
  • Work with 3rd party consultants, review building/plot/solar array plans, etc. and submit building permit applications;
  • Handle system processes related to starts, restarts, addendum changes, etc.
  • Monitor sales pace and spec home inventory levels at all communities and adjust starts cadence as necessary to maintain targeted ranges.
  • Utilize Hyphen Build-Pro and SalesForce to directly manage job set up, scheduling, rescheduling, and monitor schedule adherence.
  • As the Hyphen Build-Pro administrator for the division, support all internal and external Build-Pro users and perform daily maintenance in system.
  • Work with Meritage Homes construction managers and trade partners to maintain clear and accurate reporting in Hyphen Build-Pro.
  • Partner with the purchasing department to hold regular trade partner meeting to communicate upcoming business plan requirements and utilize construction metrics to improve trader partner performance.
  • Lead and manage the Starts Coordinator as part of production team.
  • Assist with all production reports, forms, documents, tasks, and related requirements.

  • Qualifications

    • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
    • Ability to connect and form effective working relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
    • Clear understanding of homebuilding schedules.
    • knowledge of homebuilding and construction systems/processes, building codes, and local city or county construction guidelines.
    • 3+ years of homebuilding construction job-site experience.
    • Understanding of civil drawings, blue prints, house plans, plots plans, and ability to audit such per Meritage Standards of Construction.
    • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to influence others and manage conflicts in a positive manner.
    • Strong leadership skills: ability to set priorities, define schedules, and meet deadlines, with frequently changing circumstances in a high-volume fast-paced work environment.
    • Self starter: takes initiative, proactively addresses problems, can work with minimal oversight.
    • Strong proficiency with computer and enterprise applications such as Microsoft Office, Hyphen Build-Pro, SalesForce, JD Edwards. Ability learn other enterprise software quickly.
