Job Description

If you possess a deep enthusiasm for AI to support clinical care, clinical research, and operations, this is the perfect role for you. You will be part of a dynamic Health Informatics team in DigITs, MSK's enterprise digital organization, and take on a leadership role that impacts the future of AI in cancer care. As the Senior Director, Health Informatics, Oncology AI Adoption, you'll collaborate with MSK patients, clinicians, operations, and clinical researchers to develop the digital strategy for the Responsible Use of AI in Oncology. You will accelerate and drive the wise deployment, adoption, and impact of Responsible Oncology AI in real-world practice.

 

In this role, you will report directly to the Chief Health Informatics Officer and work closely with executive leadership to shape Oncology AI  strategies and roadmaps that align with our institutional goals and values. You'll lead systematic thinking about AI technology and change readiness activities, influencing best practices and cost-effective solutions that provide clear, measurable value. With your domain-level expertise and leadership experience, you'll be a key bridge between enterprise stakeholders and IT colleagues, driving organizational AI impact and shaping the future of cancer care at MSK.

 

As a Strategic Partner, You will

  • Partner with executive sponsors across related customer segments, identifying themes and driving systematic thinking about technology to influence best practices and cost-effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with MSK patients, clinicians, operations, and clinical researchers to plan and advance the use of digital technologies that accelerate care delivery and discovery while ensuring that investments in digital technology provide clear measurable value.
  • Be an advocate of MSK's digital and overall institutional strategy, and partner with business leaders to help them build, manage, and implement technology strategies across their departments.
  • Represent DigITs across relevant business units at MSK working closely with executive management to develop digital roadmaps for MSK business plans, including ensuring budgets, schedules, and value targets are met.
  • Serve as a sought-after thought leader in the wise application of modern digital technologies to complex healthcare challenges and know how to marry cutting-edge technology to match MSK's 1-5-year vision.

As an AI Innovator in Oncology, You will

  • Propel MSK to the forefront of innovative Oncology AI use to support clinical care, clinical research, and operational excellence.
  • Empower care teams, patients, and clinical researchers while transforming hospital operations and revolutionizing cancer care with the modern application of AI technologies.
  • Integrate and grow AI capabilities across MSK's digital systems and operations.
  • Establish a scalable process for catalyzing and maturing AI models from "bench-to-bedside" by monitoring special foci: operational readiness; transfer into production; workforce training; adoption; and evaluation of impact.
  • Ensure responsible use of AI through close collaboration with Quality & Safety, Ethics, Regulatory Compliance, and Clinical Decision Support leads.
  • Guide evaluation of models throughout their lifecycle through collaborations with MSK's research community, including dissemination of findings
  • Partner closely with MSK’s Technology Development leadership for key in-licensing and out-licensing AI partnerships that advance MSK's mission, in collaboration with DigITs’ InformaticsEmerging Digital Programs lead.
  • Represent MSK in AI-related external collaboratives and communities to learn and import best practices, as well as disseminate MSK's experience over time.
  • Monitor and respond to AI-specific regulatory and compliance requirements within MSK's AI Program
  • Collaborate with AI/ML Engineering team, Data & Analytics team, SEAR Strategic Evaluation & Applied Research team.

As a People Leader, You will

  • Guide, mentor, and elevate the overall skills and proficiency of direct reports.
  • Build and promote a culture of collaboration and a positive work environment, both within MSK Informatics and on multi-disciplinary digital teams.
  • Support and back up coverage of manager and peers in relevant Informatics activities at MSK as assigned.

You Need:

  • 10+ years of professional staff management experience and domain expertise in AI/ML Clinical Informatics including organizational areas outside of a single department.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to lead technical teams, get results, and encourage innovation.
  • Extensive expertise in digital strategy and planning in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in influencing key stakeholders to enact meaningful change.

Location: Hybrid, Flexibility to visit to attend meetings across our NYC sites.

This role is eligible for a 20% bonus structure. Additionally, we are open to candidates who will require relocation to the NY metro area - this role is eligible for a sign-on bonus towards relocation.
