Associate Director/ CFO, Global Cocoa

Job Description:

The Associate Finance Director - Cocoa is a critical role to partner with the Global Cocoa team on financial strategies, price risk management and overall supply chain analysis. This role is seen as a CFO for the Cocoa Enterprise across the Mars Snacking segment and expect to be a strong thought partner with the head of Cocoa procurement and the extended team.

Further, the position is expected to model financial tradeoffs relative to PSI and operational costs and drive towards the best holistic return for the segment and Cocoa team.

This role will report to the Segment CFO.

What are we looking for?

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field. MBA preferred, but not required.
  • 10-15+ years of relevant experience with emphasis on investment banking, consulting, equity research, corporate finance and FP&A
  • Intermediate level accounting, exceptional financial modelling and data management skills, Excel and PPT required.
  • Financial analysis and insights and excellent financial modelling and data management skills required.
  • Understanding of intermediate level of accounting and financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement).
  • Past experience managing teams is required.

Preferred:

  • Large enterprise or global experience is preferred.
  • Exposure in consumer goods or the food and beverage space is highly preferred.
  • Understanding of GAAP accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of internal accounting & systems.
  • Operational knowledge.
  • Familiarity with basic corporate valuation techniques would be a plus.

What will be your key responsibilities?

The Associate Director will work as a thought leader within the finance team to influence and assist senior leaders by leading analysis (financial modeling in Excel) and strategic sourcing direction of Cocoa as a key strategic category for Mars Snacking.

Significant analytical and influencing skills are also required. This role leads next generation insights and value creation with sr. leadership to drive large-scale value creation initiatives. Exposure to the highest levels of management and positioning as subject matter expert across multiple areas of influence.

  • Segment-level financial analysis and reporting for Cocoa, but with expectation of strong regional conduit as well
  • Partner with business development on various investment options and sourcing solutions
  • Financial modelling for cocoa, and business units, including scenario-based target setting and incentive planning/outcomes
  • Lead granular breakdown of business to evaluate returns and drive fact-base discussions around strategic resource allocation for investments
  • External and internal benchmarking against key KPIs as needed
  • Generate analysis and preparation of materials for Board-level and leadership team presentations
  • Leadership around generating ideas, projects and processes for ongoing, general ad hoc analysis and overall team support
  • Partner closely with PRM team on cocoa modeling and associated P&L and cash considerations
  • Role will have line management accountability for Cocoa S&F
  • Further responsibility entails global research center support as well for Cocoa enterprises
