What you'll do:

General responsibility for meeting the schedule, scope, cost and technical targets on (an) New Product Development (NPD) project(s). Ability to lead project teams and execute a gated product development process. Work closely with customers and field sales to maximize growth through new or existing product used in both military and commercial platforms. This will include actively using and supporting the PROLaunch process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manages an Integrated Program Team using clear methodology to Plan, Track & Execute to achieve program objectives (Cost, Quality and Schedule). Leverages core project management skills and key tools such as PROLaunch, anticipates challenges and makes proactive adjustments to meet commitments.
  • Meets commitments by Clear Guidance, Attention to Detail, Performance Management, Pro-activity and the ability to drive Accountability.
  • Instills confidence, obtains necessary support and manages internal & external Customer Expectations via in depth program knowledge and strong Communications & Negotiations skills. Has a thorough understanding of the Program/Project Specifications and/or Contract from a compliance and negotiations perspective. Takes full ownership of their program.
  • Understands how value is created at all levels of the business and how to get the product to market. Comfortable discussing financials with various levels of leadership.
  • Effectively leads a cross-functional team to meet program commitments. Influences & motivates others to perform in a matrixed environment.
  • Leverages prior lessons learned, captures new lessons learned, and shares them
  • Derives the Profit Plan and supports the Profit Plan Process for the appropriate Program(s)/Project(s)
  • Provides input and direction to the project team in areas of customer concerns, potential changes in scope and risk assessment, and co-ordinates responses where appropriate. Works closely with business leads & contracts to negotiate scope changes.
  • Provides full visibility of Performance (including schedule and cost variance) to all relevant parties. Focuses and advises on managerial concerns of the program (e.g., technical, cost, schedule and resource allocation). Maintains and reports key metrics for senior management including development program milestone OTD and PROLaunch status.
  • Uses risk management methodologies to identify and mitigate or offset risk. Identifies opportunities to increase revenue and/or margin through customer change, additional workscope, or Customer Claims.
  • Supports Proposal preparation for new products and programs,
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Strong analytical skills and business acumen
• Strong organisational skills - ability to manage multiple projects/activities
• Strong communication/influencing skills, and ability to interface at all levels
• Technical aptitude preferred
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Software especially Microsoft Project
• Understanding of the role of Program Manager in all PROLaunch gate phases

Skills:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace), Information Technology, or Business/Management.
• 1 - 3 years of experience in Program Management or a combination of Program/Project Management with Engineering and/or Product Development Management.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experienced in Aerospace New Product Development (NPD) programs
• Leadership skills - capability to lead change in an Integrated Team (IPT) environment across multiple sites and customers globally.
• Proficient in Program and Project Management methodologies, processes and tools
• Project Management Institute (PMI) accreditation (PMP) highly preferred
• Excellent communication and presentation skills - both verbal and written with ability to make necessary status reports and technical presentations to Eaton management and customer
• Experience in Risk Management
• Knowledge of contracts
• Knowledge of aerospace industry and Eaton products is preferred
• Knowledge of project finance
