Job Description :

This is a one year fixed term contract working across Diageo beer brands

Diageo was created in 1997 but its business is built on the principles and foundations laid years before by giants of the industry - Arthur Guinness, John Walker, Elizabeth Cumming and many more. Today, Diageo is an extraordinary leader in beverage alcohol, producing an outstanding collection of over 200 brands and leading the top two largest spirit brands in the world, Johnnie Walker and Smirnoff and 20 of the world's top 100 spirit brands. Its portfolio also includes Crown Royal, J&B, Buchanan's and Windsor Whiskies, Cîroc and Ketel One vodkas, Captain Morgan, Baileys, Don Julio, Tanqueray and Guinness.

In Diageo Ireland we operate with an Outcome Based Marketing model, with marketing managers anchored to a specific brand. The marketing manager position plays a critical role as brand guardian ensuring consistency of brand execution and application across multiple priority projects. In addition to this brand guardian role, the marketing manager will also have the opportunity to lead critical projects that shape the future across the wider portfolio too.

Role Dimensions

We are looking for a Marketing Manager to be responsible for crafting the future of the brand in the Irish market, ensuring all programmes are consistent and in line with brand and company strategy and ensuring the right priorities are fully resourced. There are numerous leadership and functional abilities we are looking for in a successful candidate to join the team and be part of our 260+ year legacy, building the foundations of future success and defining the best of what is to come.

These skills include:
  • Leader and owner of brand content and connections strategy which will require brilliant creative judgement, outstanding execution and engagement with senior collaborators.
  • Encouraging & leading cross functional & inter-agency teams to develop breakthrough brand insights and harnessing those to deliver award winning consumer & customer execution
  • Support the Marketing Leadership Team {MLT} and other MM's on development of top priority shape the future projects ensuring brand consistency and strategic fit
  • Support the MLT in defining the portfolio strategy and approach to win both for brand priorities and at portfolio level
  • Support full talent pool in the development of growth drivers that deliver against business growth ambitions and priorities whilst ensuring brand consistency and strategic fit


Top Accountabilities

Creation of long-term brand strategy and brand plans based on consumer, customer, and shopper insight. Translates this plan into priority projects and aligns business on resourcing of these. Understands and respond to the drivers of your brand performance, working in partnership with the commercial teams to deliver the annual operating plan

  • Skilled at using data to increase personalisation and efficiency of campaigns
  • Strong insight generation capability- translating consumer curiosity into insights


Forging powerful partnerships
  • Skilled at leading cross-functional, cross agency teams and delivering programmes through others
  • Has developed internal and external network


Driving marketing performance
  • strong commercial acumen and drive to measure, evaluate and learn
  • Ability to manage brand P&L to deliver business ambition


Delivering integrated execution
  • Excellent marketing judgement
  • Ability to galvanise business behind priorities
  • Strong capabilities in delivering multi media and multi digital execution
  • Excellent capabilities in maximising brands resonance and role in culture and experiential


Ideal experiences / Qualifications / capabilities
  • 8+ years of relevant marketing experience
  • Successful management of senior stakeholders at all levels, resulting in strong and positive outcomes
  • Holistic skill set across all marketing pillars as well as a track record of leading transformational business results
  • Being able to excel when dealing with ambiguity, complexity and working within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and matrixed environment
  • A history of working across media, digital social & DDM, experiential, PR, culture and trade marketing
  • Experience of working with and leading a team, whether directly or indirectly
  • Experience working across multiple countries/geographies/cultures
