Job Description :

Purpose of the position:

Support external communication on building stronger content and compelling narratives, unlock media opportunities and partner on key media events and initiatives for Diageo.

Context/Scope:

In a world of exponential change, Corporate Communications is a function that unlocks media opportunities and creates compelling narratives to build and protect corporate reputation.

The scope of the role would include the following areas:

  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the business and industry, stay current on news, trends, and issues.
  • Develop & implement local communication and engagement plan for Exec - to include message development, speeches, annual Team meeting, townhalls etc
  • Support our ESG comms and help in development of annual reports
  • Build strong relationships with key media and influencers who are key to our business.
  • Support the development and implementation of external communications.
  • Develop leadership communication strategies and initiatives to support USL's business and growth ambitions in India, its portfolio of brands and its wider sustainability and public policy agenda.
  • Support Brand Diageo to develop a cohesive corporate narrative and messaging strategy to build USL's reputation and ensure its consistent application across various media. Develop and execute the communications strategy and implementation, working with other functions.
  • Help develop financial performance communications.
  • Provide guidance and support on the development and delivery of corporate PR programmes.
  • Maintain communication ‘radar' across stakeholder groups eg issues identification, change programmes.

Market / Function Complexity

In-country depth, with a good understanding of regional media landscape. Tap into national and regional media that cover our category and unlock opportunities for Diageo's visibility.

Strategic Accountability

Deliver insights and ideas to positively impact perception about our category and Diageo among key stakeholders. As Manager - Corporate Communications, you are expected to manage external communication projects, support digital communication, and help the team to craft and deliver stronger and relevant content.

Leadership Responsibilities

Should have strong interpersonal & presentation skills, with a keen interest in CPG trends and current affairs. The individual should demonstrate a creative mindset, curiosity, vision, drive and integrity.

Key external stakeholders - Media, journalists, influencers

Key internal stakeholders - Diageo India ExCom

Qualifications and Experience Required

Experience

Bachelors/ Masters in communications, specialization in public relations/journalism or business
  • > 7 years' experience working with multinational companies or public relations/communications agencies or related fields
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Clear thinking, logical and strategic
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to influence teams and stakeholders on identified agendas and scope
