Knowledge Expert - Sustainable Operations & Net Zero

WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Knowledge Expert (KE) within BCG's Climate & Sustainability Practice Area (C&S PA), you will work in a growing and entrepreneurial global team, providing functional expertise and insights to clients and case teams for the Sustainable Operations topic, which includes a focus on Net Zero / Decarbonization / Abatement levers, modeling (MACC), and Emissions accounting capability (related terms: carbon accounting, baselining, target setting & reporting/SBTi, emission factors, CCF, PCF, LCA; decarbonization pathways).

You will work together with BCG case and proposal teams to deliver our suite of knowledge assets (focus on BCG's proprietary Net Zero Tool Suite), analysis and expert advisory on Net Zero strategies and decarbonization roadmaps customized to the client's need to enable positive climate impact. You will collaborate closely with business leaders, acting as a thought partner in providing advice and client-credible insight, for proposals, client workshops and commercial campaigns in the domain.

Additionally, as a Knowledge Expert, you will support the C&S PA by developing intellectual property, knowledge assets, tools and go to market materials, as well as publications for the Net Zero / Sustainable Operations topic. You will also build, grow and manage a Knowledge Team to deliver against business priorities and be accountable for the team's KPIs on billability, work quality, and topic/sector content development for Net Zero / Sustainable Operations.

The Net Zero / Sustainable Operations topic team's mission is to help our clients understand the challenges of climate change and seize competitive advantage in the new climate economy across the value chain. We aim to equip our clients with the necessary tools to transform and succeed, e.g., via GHG footprinting, assessing decarbonization levers, setting science-based targets, and defining the Net Zero pathway across our clients' value chains.

YOU'RE GOOD AT

Leading development and commercialization of knowledge and assets for Net Zero Strategies esp. baselining, abatement levers, target setting, transition pathways, emission accounting, SBTi, reporting, materials, and analytics with proven capabilities in modeling and product build in decarbonizations/abatement levers & roadmaps, emissions accounting and related climate concepts
Leading problem solving and solutioning for clients and driving towards pragmatic solutions tailored to the business context
Engaging and communicating with internal and external senior stakeholders, demonstrating expert presence and credibility
Leading projects in a highly effective manner, mobilizing team to deliver on business priorities and commercial impact
Acting as a highly effective coach and mentor, guiding team members to achieve goals efficiently and effectively
Working in an ever changing and complex environment, and comfortable with ambiguity and navigating a fast-paced environment

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

5+ years consulting experience in baselining, reporting and target setting/SBTi, decarbonization/abatement levers, decarbonization roadmaps (scope 1-3), emissions accounting required; candidates with consulting experience preferred
In lieu of consulting experience, 7+ years minimum industry experience required; 10-14+ years of industry experience strongly preferred
Bachelor's Degree required (advanced degree preferred)
Full fluency of key Climate emissions reduction target setting methodologies (SBTi), emissions accounting & reporting standards (GHG protocol, CDP) and emission factor databases, recommended to be eloquent on TCFD, IFRS/ISSB
Strong analytical capabilities, e.g., versatile in Excel, Alteryx and Tableau or similar with proven ability to build consistent models and user-friendly client-ready dashboards
Fluency in English
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to interact with and manage internal and external stakeholders ("client-ready") while working in a global collaborative team environment

As a Knowledge Expert you will collaborate with global topic leads and colleagues across BCG to bring expertise and capabilities to the service of our internal and external clients. The Knowledge Team (KT) is a group of functional and/or industry experts leveraging deep domain knowledge to enable insight for case teams and clients. KT members are affiliated to BCG Practice Areas, plugged into the strategic agenda and building and deploying leading edge IP data tools/assets to deliver insight

BCG's Knowledge Team members have the opportunity to be staffed on cases and help co-create insights with case teams and clients through expert perspectives on industry trends, delivery of proprietary data or tools in a particular function and complex research and analysis of market information. KT members also support the PA's business development and proposals and help to organize and codify the knowledge that enables BCG to deliver superior business value for its clients.
