About the role:

Booking.com is the world's largest car rental platform featuring car rental in more than 60'000 locations in 160 countries. Our product is available to our global customer base via desktop, mobile and app and under 2 consumer brands: Booking.com and Rentalcars.com, our dedicated car rental platform. In addition to our consumer brands we also power the car rental business for our many affiliate partners including some of the world's leading airlines and online travel agencies.

This role implements the Revenue Management strategy and is a key contact point/interface into Supplier Management and Product & Engineering, and there will be a need to influence on the same role or higher across multiple departments. The accountability is: Gross Margin delivery of ~£60m with encouraged delivery of £300k / >0.5% incremental margin through pricing optimisation. The main metrics will be Gross Margin, Volume and Conversion Rate measured as Margin per Seed.

Purpose:
  • To use price experimentation tools that deliver optimal volume and margin targets for a designated area of responsibility.
  • Work with Analytics and Data Science to improve inputs and ideas into our Machine Learning pricing model.
  • To provide explanations into the Machine Learning model's behaviour and challenge possible impacts to our targets.
  • Work closely with Supply Management to ensure commercial supplier strategies are achieved through our pricing tools.
Tasks and Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning
  • Provide feedback and analysis into budgets and targets while tracking performance and advancing risks.
  • To become a guide in their designated destinations and provide key input into the Market/Source strategies of those destinations.
  • Input into Quarterly Performance Reviews to make sure initiatives are clearly articulated and confidence levels realistic.
  • To deliver assigned key objectives and support / lead (where required) on longer term department projects.
  • Liaise with Supplier Management to ensure actions at supplier/destination level are factored into the RM process and maintain a constant communication flow to ensure both parties are well informed of decisions that may impact a destination's performance.
Delivering the Numbers
  • Monitoring of trading performance and execution of corrective action to achieve the desired balance of volume, margin and quality.
  • Use of Competitor data to supervise competitor product/price/promo offering ensuring we have attractive products that meet customer needs.
  • Liaise with SM to ensure we have fair and driven products, prices and promotions.
Internal Relationships
  • Partner with the Data Science and Analytics teams to work on experiment hypotheses and ideas to improve processes and reporting.
  • Ensure Product development requirements are specified to ensure RM priorities are built into appropriate roadmaps.
  • Liaise with Competitor Data Manager to ensure Competitor Data is accurate and advance any concerns or inaccuracies that arise.
  • Provides support and analysis on trading to the wider RM team.
Innovation
  • Adopt and support a culture of continuous improvement in analytical capabilities, processes, ways of working, tools and technology.
Compliance
  • Implements all pricing actions to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards and directives from regulatory agencies, governmental bodies, and third parties.

  • Work as part of a team to deliver objectives and act as a role model for ethics, behaviours and what we value.
  • Take ownership for own development with preparation for 121s and PDPs and participation in courses that support development needs.
  • Ability to train and develop new starters in the team and represent RM values and practices across all departments.
Requirements for this role :
  • trong commercial awareness & revenue management experience.

  • Knowledge of the travel industry or car hire is advantageous.
  • SQL skills desirable.
