About the role
As Senior Counsel, Industry Software, you will play a key role on the Industry Affairs and Industry Software legal team. You will be the primary legal advisor for a portfolio of business-to-business (B2B) software products, supporting real estate professionals. Your work will directly impact Zillow's product development and industry relationships, helping to shape the future of real estate technology through strategic, solution-oriented legal guidance.

You Will Get To
- Serve as the primary legal contact for designated B2B software products, including ShowingTime and Dotloop.
- Advise on product development, data use, privacy, licensing, commercial contracts, and marketing matters.
- Work closely with business teams to provide proactive, strategic legal guidance on new initiatives and key projects.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, such as customer contracts and data licensing agreements.
- Analyze legislative changes affecting supported products and coordinate with product teams on implementation.
- Collaborate with internal partners across legal, privacy, finance, tax, and compliance functions.
- Identify legal risks and provide legal risk analysis and recommendations to senior management
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture within the Legal and Compliance Department.
This role has been categorized as a Remote position. "Remote" employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.
In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $158,200.00 - $252,800.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.
Who you are
- 7+ years of relevant attorney experience, including at least 3 years in an in-house legal department, preferably at a technology company or large real estate brokerage.
- JD with active state bar admission in at least one jurisdiction.
- Experience with data rights, licensing, privacy, and marketing/advertising laws.
- Skilled in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Knowledge of real estate licensing regulations or MLS/real estate industry rules is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with ability to clearly and persuasively advise on legal issues and risk.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A disciplined, project management-oriented approach with the ability and desire to take ownership of issues, drive clarity, and execute effectively.
