About the Role:

KeepTruckin is on a mission to unlock the potential of the physical economy. We provide these businesses with a cloud-based operations management software platform that connects their operations teams seamlessly to drivers, vehicles, equipment, facilities, financial spend, and the data they need to make informed decisions when it matters most.

We are looking for a Senior Product Counsel to join our fun, mission-driven, growth-focused team to advise on the intersection of technology, the law, and the financial needs of our customers. The legal team’s mission is to mitigate risk while maximizing growth and our vision is to be trusted advisors to the business.  We succeed when employees know when to seek legal advice and integrate legal advice, counsel, and review into the company’s initiatives so they succeed.

In this role you will be reporting to the General Counsel. This position is remote eligible.

What You'll Do:

  • Making sense of old laws and new technologies that govern corporate spending accounts, expense management, credit cards, billing, invoicing, collections, issuing and acquiring banks, processors, payments networks, and other aspects of payment processing. 
  • Knowing your stuff, especially contractual, legal, regulatory, and policy developments that will impact how payments technologies are developed and deployed.
  • Structuring and negotiating complex debt deals and technology partnership agreements.
  • Emerging payments technology and the payments industry, financial and accounting processes, and implementing risk controls.  
  • Effective collaboration, influence and persuasion across a wide variety of teams, including Product, Engineering, Revenue, Risk, and Marketing, on complex legal questions related to product development and commercialization, including advising on new and emerging legal and regulatory developments impacting payments products.

What We're Looking For:

  • You have a J.D. and membership in at least one U.S. state bar, with at least 8 years of relevant experience at a top law firm, in-house legal team, and/or government agency, or in-house legal department, with a focus on advising key business stakeholders on product development at the intersection of financial services and technology.
  • Deep understanding of laws, regulations, and requirements applicable to payments, including state commercial lending laws, federal financial services regulations, anti-money laundering and know-your-customer requirements, and sanctions.
  • Familiarity with payment card network rules (PCI-DSS), Nacha Operating Rules and RTP Network Rules. 
  • Experience negotiating, advising on, and managing the risks of complex commercial agreements with card issuing platforms, partner banks, payment processing vendors, merchants and other payments-related service providers.
  • You’re solutions-oriented, are biased towards action and impact, and see problems as opportunities.
  • You demonstrate a growth mindset, are genuinely curious, and learn from mistakes made along the way.  
  • You are passionate about your work, no task too big or too small, you pay attention to the smallest detail without losing sight of the big picture.  
  • You enjoy a fast-paced working environment.
  • You’re humble with low-ego and have a deep commitment to your teammates.
