The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Vice President - Information Technology Operations provides leadership and management to the Information Technology (IT) department while developing and implementing a long-term sustainable strategic IT vision that will support the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) mission. The Vice President of Information Technology Operations provides strategic guidance and leadership in applying new and emerging information technology objectives, and plays a key role in continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring an efficient IT environment, and creating operational excellence in IT service delivery.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a team of internal IT resources, key suppliers, and contingent workers.
  • Manage and execute an annual budget and support 800+ end-users in multiple locations.
  • Establish department goals and strategic objectives that are aligned with the company mission.
  • Craft and communicate strategic technology updates in Board of Directors meetings as needed.
  • Oversee, maintain, test, and evolve the IT disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Ensure continuous delivery of IT core services to the business.
  • Clearly communicate the department's vision and objects to direct team and all key stake holders.
  • Provide key technology updates in bi-weekly, quarterly, and executive meetings.
  • Assess and communicate risks associated with various IT initiatives.
  • Resolve and satisfy IT audits originating from the Audit, Risk and Compliance and Legal teams.
  • Participate in strategic and operational governance as a member of the senior leadership team.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor Information Technology staff and identity and develop high performing and high potential teammates.
  • Ensure proper depth of critical SMEs to reduce risk to business and project priorities.
  • Collaborate with departments to ensure successful project scope, priority, and deployment with high levels of quality, timeliness, and service.
  • Continually analyze department performance, deliverables, and service metrics to identify creative opportunities for improved control and service.
  • Manage the IT annual survey distributions and report out to the CIO, highlighting results, opportunities for improvement, and strategy for continuous improvement.
  • Mature and evolve IT project management capabilities to ensure more consistent and accurate project deliverables.
  • Mature and evolve IT Service Delivery capabilities related to hardware / software management, service desk, intake processes and other related ITIL functions.
  • Mature, evolve, and support WWP's back-office applications for the Human Resources, Finance, and Legal teams.
  • Ensure reliability of core communications systems related to Voice, Video Conferencing, Network, LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, Cloud, Cell, and the Microsoft Office 365 platform.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated experience and success in managing multiple IT disciplines, including Applications, Infrastructure, Networking, Business Intelligence, Website Development, Voice/Video Conferencing communication, and IT Service Delivery.
  • Demonstrated skill in leading information systems departments in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Exhibit accountability and possess courage to address teammate performance issues in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in managing complex projects with a proven track record of managing and controlling vendor risk.
  • Proven experience and success in teaming with the business with an understanding of technology to a depth that allows for clear communication of complex subject matter using simple, non-technical terms.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple and concurrent priorities with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven leadership skills and management experience with the ability to recruit, develop, inspire, and retain a high-performing organization, effectively managing diverse perspectives. Demonstrated success in leadership, team building, mentoring, coaching, and supervising IT professionals.
  • Expertise driving efforts for strategic and operational change - courageous and willing to be disruptive based on high-impact initiatives.
  • Expertise in cloud technologies (AWS or Azure).
  • Expertise with 'back office' ERP applications (Workday and Microsoft Great Plains or similar products).
  • Familiarity with information security vulnerabilities and risk management.
  • Familiarity with colocation hosting and Managed Service Providers (MSPs).
  • Strong project/program management skills.
  • Evidence of strong customer satisfaction delivery skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to helping a highly successful organization implement systems to support significant growth.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a highly developed attention to detail.
  • Ability to secure executive support and foster positive cross-functional relationships.
  • High energy level. Self- starter; willing to take initiative. Strong work ethic coupled with an enthusiastic and passionate approach to one's work.

EXPERIENCE

Requirements

  • Eight years of experience in a senior-level functional IT leader role, partnering with executive staff and external stakeholders.
  • Five years of project management experience.

Preferences

  • Five years of experience in leading an IT Operations organization.
  • Five years of experience leading an Application/Application Development organization.
  • Five years of experience managing 'back office' ERPs systems.
  • Three years of data warehouse/business intelligence leadership experience.

EDUCATION

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, management information services, computer science, or business administration.

Preferences

  • Master's degree.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • General office environment; temperature controlled.
