Life Science Audit Manager

Boston, MA

The Life Science Audit Manager role will be based out of our Massachusetts, MA locations. You'll work alongside an integrated team of seasoned, well-known CPAs and industry leaders. In this position, you will take a lead role on all aspects of audit engagements, from planning to completion, to include supervision/mentoring of staff and building/maintaining relationships with clients.

How You'll Spend Your Time:

  • Leading the engagement team staff on the planning and execution of an audit engagement to effectively and efficiently provide world-class client service
  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the audit engagement from staffing, planning, risk assessment, fieldwork, financial reporting and the conclusion
  • Providing supervision, training and support to the engagement staff and promote open communication to the engagement manager and partner
  • Collaborating with managers and partners on client issue resolution and make recommendations for operational or internal control improvements to the client
  • Managing multiple engagements concurrently with various teams to efficiently meet client deadlines
  • Creating and tracking engagement budgets to review for inefficiencies that may arise during the audit and maintain profitable realization rates
  • Reviewing and evaluating work papers, and determine compliance with professional standards and firm policy
  • Reviewing reports and financial statements, as well as SEC filings
  • Reviewing with the engagement partner significant findings that raise questions involving auditing standards and firm policy
  • Managing risk and ensure quality control procedures are being executed
  • Be involved in practice development and supervision of multiple engagements
  • Effectively manage employee and client expectations
  • Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with client management
  • Assuming responsibility for billing and collections when circumstances permit
  • Providing on-the-job training to team members
  • Developing staff by taking an active role in the Firm’s learning and development activities
  • Completing performance evaluations constructively and timely, and also provide ongoing performance feedback to employees
  • Generating new business annually from new and existing clients
  • Representing the Firm by presenting on areas of expertise at 3rd party events
  • Participating in firm-sponsored activities
  • Maintaining annual CPE requirements

The Kinds of People We Want to Talk to Have Many of The Following:

  • BBA/BS/MS in Accounting
  • Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)  and PCAOB/SEC rules and regulations
  • Experience working on Audits in the Life Sciences industry
  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Must be a licensed CPA
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and auditing skills including , specifically within SEC Assurance
  • Ability to articulately communicate professional/technical knowledge
  • Effective business advisory skills
  • Decisively identify and execute solutions to problems
  • Thorough understanding of complex technical issues
  • Ability to meet deadlines with accuracy
  • Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment.
  • Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills to represent the Firm well to engagement partners or client's management
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills and strong attention to detail

The compensation for this position will vary by location. Withum offers a competitive benefits package and bonus program (for eligible roles) based on individual and firm performance.
