Job Summary

The Product Owner as a member of the Technology team and is responsible for guiding and consulting with cross-functional product development teams as they develop and enhance company's products. The Product Owner is closely aligned with one or more Product Managers and evangelizes or translates product strategy into actionable and prioritized features for development. The Product Owner resolves conflicts and makes decisions during product development in accordance with business value and product strategy, and effectively communicates the same to cross-functional development teams and stakeholders. Product Owners understand the user and buyer personas for their product and use that as a guide to defining and prioritizing features and setting acceptance criteria. The Product Owner works closely with aligned business analyst in developing requirements for a given project.

The ideal candidate has a background in Health Insurance system and product analysis and requirements specification and has worked on Agile development teams. Candidates without Agile backgrounds may be accepted depending on the depth and strength of their related experience and demonstrated aptitude for learning, adapting to, and helping others adapt to change.

Essential Job Functions
  • Work with Account Manager and Development Leadership to create a strategic vision for the product.
  • Work closely with Product Manager to create and maintain a product backlog aligned with strategy and prioritized according to business value.
  • Manage and develop Business Analyst
  • Articulate the product vision. Provide support and consultancy on themes to be executed as part of product roadmap aligning to the strategic goals of the organization.
  • Influence a cross functional team to ensure the team delivers products that meet business requirements/needs and delivers business and operational value to customers.
  • Maintain product enhancement backlog.
  • Ensure product roadmap and vision are communicated to the development team
  • Provides acceptance criteria for the user stories / requirements planned for the project release.
  • Promote and supports transition of development and product management processes to Agile/Waterfall Product-Focused methods.
  • Develops user stories and epics (Agile) or requirements.
  • Track releases
  • Provide material for customer-facing announcements and updates related to product enhancements.
  • Participate in daily project or scrum meetings, planning, reviews and retrospectives (lessons learned).
  • Support the development team with any questions they may have.
  • Ensures delivery of features & functions based on strategic plan.
  • Verifies quality & delivery of feature / function.
  • Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of Project/Release/Sprint Goals.
Qualification Requirements
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Attention to detail.
  • Self-motivation with strong, proven, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional resources and work well in a distributed environment.
  • Experience with Agile development techniques or aptitude and desire to learn and coach others on Agile
  • 4+ years of systems analysis or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience in a corporate environment contributing to software development.
  • 2-5 years of demonstrated experience in HPS products desirable.
  • Strong technical or business background
  • Understanding customer needs is a vital aspect of this job.
  • Possess background knowledge of the Product subject matter.
  • Have been in several customer facing and/or internal roles.
  • Ability to work with software developers, operations and business stakeholders, Product Managers, marketing and communications specialists and other related professionals.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with clients and team members, both verbally and written.
  • Light travel may be required.
  • Professional presentation and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft applications (MS Visio, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word) and ServiceNow. Comfort with learning and using new software tools.
Education Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required.

Physical requirements:
  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • May be subject to interruptions.
  • Minimal physical exertion.
  • Required to work on a computer.
