Position Overview
We are redefining what’s possible at the edge. Our Cloud Platform product enables a distributed, Kubernetes-based infrastructure that supports high-performance edge cloud deployments across telecom, aerospace, industrial, and defense sectors.
We are seeking a Senior Product Validation/QA Engineer to join our team, who is responsible for validating Wind River’s Cloud Platform product. This role will be critical in ensuring the performance, reliability, Quality, and robustness of our distributed edge cloud platform and orchestration systems.
You will be responsible for designing, implementing, executing, and maintaining test suites for the Cloud Platform product, which integrates StarlingX, OpenStack, and Kubernetes to deliver carrier-grade infrastructure at the edge.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive manual and automated test plans for the Cloud Platform products.
- Validate end-to-end system functionality, including Kubernetes orchestration, virtual infrastructure management, and cloud-native application deployment at the edge.
- Work closely with Development, DevOps, and Product teams to understand new feature requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Conduct functional, regression, performance, scalability, and stress testing across multiple hardware and virtualized platforms.
- Automate test scenarios using tools such as Robot Framework, Python, Jenkins pipelines, and Kubernetes-native testing tools (e.g., Helm, kubectl).
- Perform API testing and verify REST integrations within the cloud-native infrastructure.
- Participate in CI/CD pipeline integrations, test case automation, and release verification in containerized and multi-node environments.
- Investigate, triage, and document issues found during testing; work with developers and architects to drive resolutions.
- Continuously improving QA processes, coverage, and test efficiency.
- Analyze log files and system metrics to debug and report system-level issues and ensure product quality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in QA for cloud-native platforms, virtualization, or distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with Python, Jenkins, Kubernetes, OpenStack, Docker, and Helm.
- Strong proficiency in Linux system administration and networking.
- Familiarity with edge computing concepts and infrastructure constraints.
- Experience with automated test frameworks (Robot, pytest, Selenium, etc.) and scripting (Python, Bash, YAML).
- Working knowledge of Git, Jenkins, and CI/CD best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience testing telecom cloud platforms or StarlingX-based solutions.
- Experience with cloud orchestration and lifecycle management tools.
- Knowledge of container security, storage, and multi-cloud deployment strategies.
- Exposure to test management tools such as TestRail, Jira,Confluance
