About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Support Tools Developer to join our Technical Documentation team. This contractor role will play a key part in maintaining and enhancing the tools and infrastructure that support our documentation publishing, internal workflows, and customer-facing platforms.

You will work closely with writers, tools engineers, and cross-functional teams to improve site usability, implement automation, and support innovative projects such as AI integration.

Key Responsibilities

• Tooling & Automation
  • Assist in maintaining and enhancing internal documentation tools and publishing pipelines.
  • Develop scripts and utilities to streamline documentation workflows and reduce manual effort.
  • Support bug fixing and troubleshooting for internal tools.
• UI/UX Improvements
  • Contribute to front-end improvements of the documentation site to enhance usability and accessibility.
  • Implement design updates based on feedback from internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Help reduce the backlog of UI/UX issues and enhancements.
• AI & Innovation Projects
  • Support the integration of AI-powered features such as federated search, chatbots, and real-time translation.
  • Collaborate with senior developers and product teams to prototype and test new capabilities.
• Collaboration & Support
  • Work closely with technical writers to understand their needs and provide responsive tooling support.
  • Participate in code reviews, and knowledge sharing.

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency in one or more scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Bash).
• Familiarity with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control (such as Git).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working with remote colleagues (for example, in Canada and USA) and flexibility in working hours to accommodate occasional meetings with colleagues in those time zones.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with publishing tools and documentation platforms.
• Exposure to UX/UI design principles.
• Interest or experience in AI/ML tools or APIs.
• Familiarity with REST APIs and integration work.
• Experience working with content management systems.
