Position Summary

You will work in a highly dynamic global team and will develop, implement, and operate the worldwide infrastructure for White and Case. As a Senior Engineer, Infrastructure Operations you will be responsible for the administration, hardening, and automation of our Linux environments, with a primary focus on RedHat. Your expertise will drive the design and maintenance of our Linux patching process, ensuring our systems are secure, efficient, and scalable. You will play a key role in automating routine tasks using Ansible and contribute to our infrastructure as code initiatives.

Our Technology Team

Technology at White & Case plays a key role in enabling our lawyers in practicing law around the world.

Our team comprises of three functions: Business Services - who maintain, develop and support our enterprise systems, Operations - who design, build and support our communications and data center operations, and Support Services - who provide desktop, meeting and training support in the Firm's offices. Together we support our lawyers with leading edge technology and systems to deliver elite legal and best-in-class client service.

Globally minded and diverse, our team covers a range of technical disciplines and business skill sets. This encompasses from business analysts, data architects, application developers and engineering staff covering range of technologies that include virtualization, cloud, networking, storage, collaboration services and security. We deploy the latest technology and hardware within our state-of-the-art offices. Our technical support staff support and train our people on the latest hardware and operating systems, remote working capability, and mobile devices. Our Shared Services centers provide Service Desk, Security and Network Operation Centers that providing support and monitoring of Firm systems 24 x 7.

Working closely with our business services colleagues in support of the Firm's Finance, People, Marketing departments. The Technology team is at the heart of the Firm's global operations.

Duties and Accountabilities
  • Administer and maintain our Linux environments, with a focus on RedHat, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Harden Linux operating systems to ensure security best practices are always followed.
  • Automate routine Linux administration tasks using Ansible playbooks to increase efficiency and reduce manual errors.
  • Design and maintain a robust Linux patching process to ensure systems are protected against vulnerabilities
  • Collaborate with the IT team to support infrastructure as code initiatives, using tools like Terraform.
  • Utilize Git (specifically Gitlab) for version control, ensuring a streamlined and collaborative development process.
  • Develop automation scripts in Python, Bash, or other languages to enhance system functionalities and integration .

Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Linux Administration Engineer, with solid expertise in RedHat.
  • Strong experience in hardening Linux operating systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and maintain a Linux patching process.
  • Strong Python or Bash scripting experience.
  • Experience writing Ansible playbooks and familiarity with Ansible tower or AWX a plus.
  • Strong understanding of GIT with Gitlab experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in teams of highly skilled technical professionals.
  • Professional experience in working effectively with business stakeholders, project managers, technology teams and end users in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.
  • Possess effective communication skills and has extensive experience with facilitating regular touchpoint calls/meetings/Teams sessions.
  • Must be able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of grasping new concepts without prior experience.
  • Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, and creative.
  • Ability to travel or work overtime, as needed.
  • Fluency in English.
  • International experience a plus

  • This role is based in our Tampa office.
  • This role reports to the Sr. Infrastructure Operations Manager.
