We are currently looking to hire Senior Software Engineers to join our Routing, Observability, Compute and Staking teams at Coinbase. All of these teams sit within our Infrastructure org.
The Infrastructure org supports the systems, services, and tooling at the foundation of Coinbase’s mission to increase economic freedom. We enable Coinbase engineers to design, develop, and operate services quickly, safely, securely and reliably. Infrastructure teams build and maintain the platforms critical to the existence of Coinbase.
What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
- Design and implement foundational infrastructure components used by every engineering team in production (e.g. dynamic configuration, secrets storage, container orchestration, etc)
- Write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers.
- Articulate a long term vision for maintaining and scaling our infrastructure.
- Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines and deliverables with your technical expertise
- Routing: Design, build, and operate our internal routing systems, including service identity, service discovery and traffic management.
- Observability: Develop and maintain systems that allow for effective monitoring, logging, and tracing of software applications.
- Compute: Build tooling and automation to make management of our Kubernetes clusters easy and reliable
- Staking: Build first-class support for staking validator workloads on Coinbase infrastructure
- Work with engineers, designers, product managers and senior leadership to turn our product and technical vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter.
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
- You have at least 5+ years of software engineering experience and scaling backend infrastructure
- You have designed, built, scaled and maintained production services.
- You have strong proficiency within a modern tech stack, like Ruby or Go for languages and gRPC + Protobuf for communication.
- You have built systems on public cloud providers such as AWS or GCP
- You write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers.
Nice to haves:
- Routing: You have a strong proficiency working with various low-level networking primitives and concepts, such as TCP, HTTP, TLS, and interprocess communications (UDS). You have experience operating critical, high-traffic infrastructure, including proficiency with monitor, unix network debugging, scaling, and proactively addressing performance and reliability concerns.
- Observability: You have skills around observability, debugging and performance tuning. And you have exposure to NoSQL and SQL database technologies such as DynamoDB, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, AWS Aurora
- Compute and Staking: You have experience with Kubernetes, or similar compute orchestration systems (e.g. mesos, nomad).
- You have gone through a rapid growth in your company (from 10 to 100s of engineers)
- You’ve built financial, high reliability or security systems
