It is where our exclusive Max Originals and iconic entertainment brands thrive, with HBO, HBO Max, Warner Bros., DC, Turner Classic Movies, Cartoon Network and more delivering the greatest array of series, movies, and specials for audiences of all ages. HBO Max originally launched in the United States in May 2020 and introduced a lower priced, advertising-supported tier in June 2021. It rolled out globally across Latin America and the Caribbean in 2021, followed by its first European launches in the Nordics and Spain later that year. In May 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery introduced Max, an enhanced streaming platform, in the U.S. HBO Max is currently available in 46 countries and there are plans for the continued global expansion of Max in 2024.
Your New Role...
The Specialist, Sports Merchandising, German Speaking Europe is responsible for maximising the full potential of sports content on HBO Max, with particular focus on the German speaking markets. This role reports to the Director of Sports Merchandising, EMEA.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for executing day-to-day operations of the sports content experience in HBO Max as well as overseeing strategy and execution of local priority rights and content.
- As part of the EMEA sports merchandising team, help to deliver the goals, priorities and merchandising strategies as set by the Director of Sports Merchandising.
- Manage, operate and influence workflows and tooling to make sure all content types and assets are published to the platform with consistent and accurate metadata, design and editorial curation.
- Communicate clearly with relevant stakeholders to manage internal expectations and priorities of merchandising strategies and plans to deliver for both the business and the user.
- Power user of Site Builder, our Content Management System, once trained, recommending tooling improvements and leveraging the toolkit's efficiencies.
- Support EMEA merchandising leadership on successfully building and launching HBO Max in the EMEA region, specifically German speaking markets.
- Partner with the EMEA entertainment merchandising team on strategy across relevant pages, leading on the sports content experience.
- Work closely with the WBD sports content and production teams to gather key information across all competitions and events to develop user experiences showcasing the breadth and depth of our content sports portfolio on HBO Max platforms.
- Analyse data, reports and dashboards to draw learnings and apply these to future merchandising experiences, iterating and optimising the experience to meet the needs of both the customer and the business.
Key Skills and Experience
- Fluency in German and English
- Passionate about sports.
- Relentless pursuit of operational and work-flow efficiency.
- Obsession with providing an excellent quality customer experience.
- Proficiency in digital editorial operations, workflows, and live event creation tools.
- Commanding knowledge of various editorial tools.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to comfortably work with various job functions such as Business Executives, Product, Data, Engineers, Technology Operations, and Vendors.
- Be able and willing to travel throughout Europe when required to meet with various teams and stakeholders.
- Additional languages a bonus.
