Your New Role...

The Media Strategist is responsible for the media planning efforts to drive promotion of off-channel direct response and awareness campaigns for CNN digital products. This includes development, recommendation, implementation, stewardship and performance reporting that strategically aligns with marketing objectives. The Media Strategist will be required to contribute to the development of campaign strategy including defining/defending media objectives and tactics.

While working under the guidance of the Sr. Media Manager and Sr. Media Director, it is the Media Strategist's responsibility to maintain campaign budgets, timelines and frequent performance reports while demonstrating knowledge of various media concepts and applications that support team recommendations. Adeptness in media math and sound knowledge of the advertising/media industry is crucial for this position.

Prospect must be organized and possess a critical eye for detail as the gatekeeper for archiving and communicating media and performance details to various departments within WBD including marketing, creative. buying and finance teams. Must possess effective time management skills and the ability to adapt to change within a fast-paced work environment.

Your Role Accountabilities...

Media Planning -

  • Responsible for the development and stewardship of media plans as proofed by the Sr. Media Manager.
  • Manages timelines and communication effectively to superiors, direct reports, internal teams and external agency / vendor partners
  • Has a working knowledge of syndicated research tools to lend rationale and support to media recommendations (Nielsen, MRI)
  • Effectively establish budget allocations amongst team in the pre-planning window reporting rationale and estimates up to the Sr. Media Manager
  • Evaluate shifts in digital marketing strategy and be able to quickly recommend strategic media adjustments to align with overall goals
  • Proactively stays on top of industry trends and insights to share with the team, seeks out forums to gain knowledge of the business and their respective trade

Research/Reporting -

  • Meticulously organizes information to gain insights and formulate conclusions that allow us to make informed decisions in a timely manner
  • Frequently review campaign performance and evaluate how media partners and placements align against key performance indicators and benchmarks
  • Proactively manages key findings up to the Sr. Media Manager with ability to explain rationale
  • Lead weekly performance review meetings to present campaign effectiveness, performance trends and implications for campaign improvement to CNN Digital Marketing partners
  • Evaluate organic performance trends and consider how it impacts the paid performance
  • Works with Sr. Media Manager and Global Investment team to develop formal presentations on industry trends and campaign effectiveness/post campaign results

Account Service -

  • Attend relevant marketing meetings as designated by the Sr. Media Manager
  • Coordinates and participates in meetings with internal teams including Global Investment, Media Activation and WBD Portfolio teams to ensure thinking is aligned and material deliverables are effectively managed
  • Effective communicator in translating media strategy, tactics and performance to our marketing partners, seek ways to adapt presentation skills that resonate with the intended audience
  • Proactively builds relationships and report with internal colleagues and external agency / vendor partners, exudes professionalism in all aspects of daily communication

Qualifications & Experience...

  • 2+ years agency/media planning experience preferred.
  • 4-year college degree in Advertising, Marketing or a related field preferred
  • Experience with direct response/performance media with KPI-based goals
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop analytical skills the ability to work well with a team and also work independently
  • Proficient mathematical skills

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $47,460.00 - $88,140.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
