Job Description

Visa is seeking a seasoned and highly motivated leader to manage the Architecture function within the Commercial and Money Movement Solutions Product Development (CMS PD) group. CMS is a strategic growth pillar for Visa that will deliver significant revenue for the company over the coming years. The CMS PD team within Visa Technology is chartered with building the platforms and product capabilities that will directly enable the growth aspirations of our CMS business.

This leader will be an integral member of the CMS PD leadership team reporting into the SVP, CMS PD.  This new role will provide architectural leadership to all CMS PD product development activity, lead the definition of target states and provide leadership towards adoption of architectural best practices/patterns across a very large development team. The role will partner closely with senior business and product leaders to define multi-year strategic plans, lead the definition of solutions for large new opportunities and drive integration and platform convergence activities for acquired entities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define technology strategy and vision for CMS PD in alignment with the broader CMS and Visa business strategy and objectives
  • Partner with CMS business and product leaders to develop multi-year strategic outlook plans and annual operating plans
  • Lead a global team of senior technologists that provide expertise on all aspects of architecture - domain, platform and cybersecurity 
  • Drive adoption of architectural best practices/patterns and governance models that ensure top quality product development, Utilize prior experience and knowledge to ensure platforms are architected to deliver the highest level of availability, scalability and security characteristics
  • Lead effort to build out of target state architectures for existing product lines and platforms, bring proactive focus on evolving the stack to target in a phased approach that is aligned with our business objectives
  • Lead the effort to harmonize frameworks/tools that developers use and drive the build out of common platform components
  • Drive acquired entity integration and product convergence efforts - Role will play an important part in identifying opportunities, defining solutions and working with very senior stakeholders on decisioning and execution
  • On large, new opportunities, partner directly with strategic clients on solution definition and delivery
  • Demonstrate thought leadership and influence through presentations, paper publications and knowledge sharing across Visa.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 8 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:
• 15 or more years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, PhD)
• Bachelors or Masters with a Computer Science or STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math)
• 15+ years of experience in leading technology architecture and product development teams/efforts
• Successful track record of leading architecture teams focused on large product development portfolios that represent broad strategic objectives for the business
• Deep experience in leading solution architecture for complex new initiatives and challenging opportunities – partnering directly with very senior business stakeholders/clients to deliver significant value and impact
• Deep experience in building service oriented architectures and platforms, Demonstrated experience in building systems software in domains that require high throughput and low-latency
• Strong understanding of architecture patterns and operational characteristics of highly secure, available and scalable applications
• Excellent knowledge of cloud-native design principles and patterns
• Demonstrated ability to succeed in a complex organization where the ability to discover and internalize diverse stakeholder goals is critical to brokering solutions that are in the best interest of company as a whole
• Outstanding verbal, written, presentation, facilitation, and interaction skills, including ability to effectively communicate architectural issues and concepts to multiple organization levels and executive management through presentations and diagrams

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 25% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 229,100.00 to 315,000.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
