Job Description

The Manager of Procurement Operations – leads by example, ensures the company sources quality and affordable products and services in a timely manner. As a key team member of the Procurement Operations team, you are responsible for supporting business partners through the procurement of goods and services for corporate/facilities, employee/human resources, marketing, technology and professional services.  The Manager will have accountability to delivery against department and functional goals. You will need a strong sense of urgency and the ability to succinctly frame issues and alternatives to drive decisions forward.

Essential Functions:

  • Planning and overseeing the work of Buyers and Purchasing Agents

  • Hiring and training new staff 

  • Liaising with business units to determine their product and service needs

  • Performing all procurement activities including pre-qualification, negotiating supplier agreements, preparation of contracts and proposal management

  • Reviewing existing contracts with suppliers and negotiate amendments as needed to remain compliant with corporate policies

  • Leading and mentoring a team, delegating tasks, and supervising the work of other Purchasing analysts within your category

  • Identifying areas for process improvement to continually drive performance and business results

  • Managing overall direction and coordination of procurement for the category in support of Procurement Operations and Global Sourcing leadership

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast paced and demanding

  • Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills

  • Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive, and energy

  • Works well under stress with the ability to deliver on time

  • Develops strong relationships with business stakeholders and supply partners to improve business

  • Ensure policies and procedures for risk management and mitigation are followed within the category

  • Supports category strategies that are directly linked to functional objectives and Visa Inc. level goals; Coordinates with Category Managers to support sourcing initiatives

  • Communicates effectively and frequently, listens carefully, and actively seeks and values the perspectives of others

  • Supports the implementation of Global Sourcing policies and procedures

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred; Professional accreditation in sourcing, procurement or purchasing a plus
• Spanish language fluency preferred
• Portuguese language fluency desired
• 6+ years of progressively responsible experience as a sourcing and/or procurement professional, preferably with a major financial institution or payment card company
• Extensive experience with contract negotiations and drafting. (i.e., Statements of Work, Master Service Agreements, SaaS, and Software License Agreements)
• Ability to identify contractual risks, rights, and obligations.
• In-depth understanding of Procurement policies and procedures and their application to the processing of center transactions (e.g., processing purchase requisitions, processing purchase orders, modifying purchase orders, executing bidding for transactions, and executing RFP’s, as required).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
• Management and leadership skills
• Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong relationship-management skills and ability to communicate effectively, and collaborate will all levels of management
• Financial and numerical skills

• Exceptional talent in negotiating and networking
• Proficiency in purchasing systems and organizational interfaces (including Ariba S2C and P2P)
