Job Description

We are seeking a Director of Strategy and Planning for our newly established VAS organization in the Asia Pacific region. This role, much like a COO, is instrumental in driving the success of the VAS organization through disciplined business management, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration.

Reporting to the Head of VAS GTM, Commercialization, and Business Management for AP, the Director will be responsible for aligning goals across various functions, implementing strategic growth initiatives, supporting data-driven decision-making, and enhancing operational efficiency. This role calls for an individual with the ability to navigate a matrixed organization, influencing and collaborating with various functions including Country teams, Product, Marketing, Finance, Strategy, and Client Services.

The successful candidate will be based in Singapore, working closely with both Hub and market leaders.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Strategy Execution: Translate, shape, and execute the Global VAS strategy at the regional level. This involves cross-functional alignment across the Hub and Markets, and a data-led approach to drive sustained VAS revenue growth, client retention, and Visa industry leadership.
  • Performance Tracking and Continuous Improvement: Identify and set regional VAS performance targets and KPIs with the VAS Head. Establish a tight review cadence (QBRs, MBRs) to closely monitor metrics tied to Sales, Revenue, and Product performance. Continually refine the regional go-to-market strategy, commercialization process, and sales enablement programs based on performance data, market research, and client feedback.
  • Business Planning: Partner with the VAS Leadership Team, Specialist sellers, Market VAS teams and Client Account Executives to develop market and client-specific business plans and targets aligned to the overall VAS strategy.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and collaboration on key initiatives.
  • Governance: Manage a formal governance process to ensure investment, commercialization, pilot, and delivery standards are met as Products evolve from Global development to revenue-generating deployments with regional clients. Contribute to and adhere to consistent governance steps for product/solution GTM.
  • Operations Excellence: Work across regional and global functions to resolve persistent operational challenges such as billing, contracting, and CS support.

 

 

Qualifications

  • 12 or more years of experience with at least 3-5 years of experience in roles focused on Strategy & Planning or Business Management. Preferably in Digital payments, Consulting or Financial services, but not a must.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Strong business acumen with problem solving skills and understanding of business operations.
  • Proven track record in executing strategic initiatives and driving growth.
  • High degree of agility in thinking and behavior, and comfort with ambiguity
  • Self-starter with high energy, motivated team player, able to effectively work across functions and teams to drive key initiatives.
  • Strong collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible working style, and able to work effectively in a matrix organization.
  • Highly organized, systematic in approach, skilled in multi-tasking
