Visa Consulting and Analytics (VCA) drives tangible, impactful and financial results for Visa’s network clients, including issuers, acquirers, processors, and merchants. Drawing on our expertise in strategy consulting, data analytics, brand management, marketing, operational and macroeconomics, VCA solves the most strategic problems for our clients.

The VCA team is looking for a Director to join our Processors and Group Service Providers (GSP) segment and play a role in developing high impact projects for Visa’s clients in the North America region. The potential candidate will drive business development, sales as well as delivery and implementation of projects and solutions with the targeted clients. This person will develop initiatives to promote balanced and profitable growth, thereby ensuring that Visa is both, the preferred brand and strong business partner.

Potential engagements could include payments strategy, product development, market entry, program launch, portfolio optimization, benchmark analysis, profitability improvement, risk management, etc.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage a sales pipeline, within an identified list of client targets, and sell consulting work against the year’s revenue target
  • Proactively engage in regular strategic & planning discussions with Account Executives, other VCA delivery teams and Visa teams
  • Lead advisory initiatives and be the main source of strategic insight and direction to the team
  • Develop frameworks, approaches, solutions and recommendations that optimally and efficiently address the most impactful opportunities and challenges
  • Partner with peers in other functional areas (e.g., marketing, sales, risk, innovation) and across global regional teams to implement projects in ways that maximize the breadth and depth of Visa’s resources
  • Produce insights, analyses and recommendations to improve client performance, boost growth, drive understanding of client issues and provide strategic guidance for client priorities across the verticals and segments
  • Analyze large data sets (industry and Visa) to develop actionable insights and recommendations for clients
  • Manage various systems of record for pricing approvals, internal routing, legal/funding approvals, and accurate revenue recognition.

Incumbents applying for the role should be self-motivated, highly energized, diligent individuals who will deliver strategic thought leadership, problem diagnostics and high impact solutions to clients support the growth and performance. Candidates will need to develop enduring, strategic relationships with internal and external clients and across the Visa organization.

This is an individual contributor role, with an option to become people manager. Open to considering other Visa office locations with the right experience.

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications
• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
• 5+ years of prior payments consulting experience at a consulting firm
• 3+ years of experience working with a payment processor or Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO) either as an employee or as a consultant
• Deep knowledge of Payments grounded in an understanding of the complex payments landscape, traditional and emerging competition, evolving trends, role and priorities of the different entities in the payment's ecosystem
• Track record of managing external partnerships or client relationships
• Prior people leadership experience
• Experience working with financial indicators to measure business performance
• Highly developed skills necessary to play a leadership role in the development and execution of consulting engagements and VCA as a whole. These skills include the following:

Communicate effectively – Through empathy and active listening, the ideal candidate will be skilled at understanding his or her audience and able to structure a compelling argument accordingly. He or she will be skilled at using PowerPoint, data visualization, and pyramid-principal storytelling to help clients make the best, fact-based decisions for their business.

Create – The ideal candidate will be skilled at generating and codifying original thoughts that improve the effectiveness of his or her team and clients. This may include page making in PowerPoint, modeling in Excel, structuring a framework for analysis or decision-making, etc.
Teach – VCA bring the best of Visa to bear on any consulting project. We team deep subject matter experts with skilled consultants and other Visa stakeholders (e.g., specialists in innovation, customer insights, or marketing). The ideal candidate must be able to share his or her knowledge effectively to help others understand small business payments, or the client’s business, in order to maximize the team’s collective impact for the client.
Learn – The ideal candidate must be curious and constantly learning. He or she must actively seek to expand his or her knowledge of the payments business and the craft of consulting.
Challenge the status quo – Experts have a deep understanding the way things are and why. The ideal candidate also seeks out better ways. He or she will be able to challenge assumptions behind our clients’ current operating practices – or his or her own expertise
Be data-driven – The ideal candidate will be skilled at constructing an argument based on facts and identifying which facts / data would be useful to support or refute a hypothesis

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 150,400 to 256,500 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
