Job Description

The Business Development Manager is a pivotal role within Visa, responsible for driving the growth and success of Visa's business operations in the Uzbekistan market. Business Development Manager is accountable for formulating and executing the business strategy, objectives, and plans tailored to the Uzbekistan market, with a primary focus on achieving volume and revenue targets. This role involves leading the client sales function and collaborating closely with various internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for business development opportunities. The Business Development Manager plays a vital role in fostering cross-functional collaboration, enhancing communication across teams, and representing Visa's interests within the Uzbekistan market.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy for the Uzbekistan market, aligned with the broader strategies of the Central Europe, Middle East, and Africa (CEMEA) region and Visa Inc.
  • Define and steer the market-specific business and client strategies, objectives, and plans, considering the unique market dynamics and growth prospects of Uzbekistan.
  • Monitor and analyze the financial services landscape in Uzbekistan, identifying emerging trends and factors influencing business outcomes.
  • Identify growth drivers and design a dynamic business expansion strategy to achieve sustainable and progressive business growth.
  • Collaborate closely with specialized divisions within Visa to ensure cohesive planning and execution.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate and nurture strong relationships with clients, regulatory bodies, government entities, and other key external stakeholders in Uzbekistan.
  • Leverage these relationships to drive sales initiatives and advocate for Visa's product and service offerings.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior decision-makers in banks, government institutions, and partner organizations, assisting them in leveraging Visa solutions for their success.
  • Coordinate with CISSEE, CEMEA and Visa Inc. teams, ensuring alignment of objectives and deliverables with sub-regional goals.

Business Development and Market Expansion:

  • Devise and execute strategies to meet or exceed established business targets for Uzbekistan, while adhering to allocated budgets.
  • Concentrate on achieving growth targets by amplifying existing business, identifying novel business prospects, and introducing and implementing innovative products and services.
  • Monitor the performance of individual financial institutions in Uzbekistan, proactively addressing challenges to achieve country-wide objectives.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with financial institutions, central banks, and national banking associations, staying attuned to industry developments.

This is a remote position. A remote position does not require job duties be performed within proximity of a Visa office location in Tashkent. Remote positions may be required to be present at a Visa office with scheduled notice.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD


Preferred Qualifications

  • 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
  •  
  • Extensive background in the banking/financial services sector, coupled with robust sales and marketing experience and proven negotiation skills.
  • Exposure to international business environments, ideally within a complex matrix management organization.
  • Fluent Uzbek, English and Russian

Key Competencies:

  • Demonstrates strong commercial acumen, including prior P&L responsibility.
  • Exhibits exceptional analytical, presentation, and communication proficiencies.
  • Capable of generating innovative solutions in intricate and dynamic landscapes.
  • Possesses adept interpersonal skills and adeptness in relationship-building.
  • Driven by a demonstrable commitment to achieving results, coupled with high energy and enthusiasm.
