Job Description Summary
The BMS Programmer Engineer is an advanced level position with technical and project responsibilities. This position assists in performing supervision and quality assurance functions for the BMS department in addition to directly performing complex BMS setup and response tasks. In this job description BMS refers to Building Management Systems.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
The BMS Programmer Engineer is an advanced level position, with responsibility to assist in maintaining the technical and reporting performance of the BMS group within a regional office. The BMS Programmer Engineer is typically filled by a technician with formal training in BMS design and architecture including programming and program strategies. He/She has experience in supervising and managing BMS systems and supervising the work performed by BMS coordinators and technicians.

He/She is experienced in maintaining the quality of BMS service work and document control. He/She assists in developing budgets and schedules for BMS
work on individual projects; acts as the lead on complex projects requiring a team that could include subcontracted partners. He/She directly performs tasks in complex environments maintaining project requirements.
Requirements:
- Associate degree in HVAC, Mechanical or Electrical engineering and formalized training in the application of BMS software.
- Five or more years’ experience with BMS systems.
- Demonstrate capability to coordinate with other service lines on project schedule requirements Monitor backlog and to control assignment of staff to multiple projects
- Demonstrated ability to estimate the budget and schedule requirements for BMS engineering projects
- Demonstrated ability to supervise BMS personnel
- Ability to speak and write English, fluently
- Ability to organize, plan, monitor and control project contractual requirements, budgets, schedules and technical work
- Ability to utilize basic personal computer applications including spread sheets, word processors, email, and internet browsers
- Needs to be familiar with Environmental Management Systems and CMMS (Computer-Maintenance Management Systems)
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to travel from floor-to-floor and may be required to travel outside between buildings in varying outdoor weather conditions.
- The employee may also be regularly required to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
- Regularly use hands to operate office machinery including, but not limited to telephones, computers, and photocopy machines.
