The Advanced Practice Clinician in Internal Medicine is a licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner working in an adult ambulatory care setting.

The APC will deliver patient-centered care in a virtual care setting as a member of a clinical team whose goal is to support value-based care while achieving positive clinical outcomes and while providing a world-class patient experience. The APC will spend 2-3 days weekly in our Virtual Care Center with the other members of the virtual care team and support staff. The Virtual Care Center is located at 5615 Kirby Drive, Houston. One week per quarter they will work in a designated clinic based on their home location to experience in person care and develop relationships with other members of the Kelsey-Seybold team.
Successful candidates will be able to communicate in a patient-friendly, language both verbally and in writing, and enjoy collaborating with a highly supportive, multidisciplinary team.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Treat patients via virtual care using a dedicated digital health platform
- Diagnose, treat and manage patients in a fast-paced environment
- Possess effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally
- Enjoy working in a team-based environment and collaborating with other clinicians
- Assess the need for and interpret diagnostic information and laboratory results
- Obtain medical histories and perform physical assessments and examinations
- Be comfortable performing health risk assessments virtually
- Perform specific duties as outlined by the managing physician
- Be comfortable performing virtual encounters independent of the physician
- Have experience with current virtual care delivery methods
- Participate in the development of virtual care protocols, guidelines, policies and training programs for providers
- Participate in key digital health strategy and clinical meetings
- Stay current on virtual care issues and best practices
- Be willing to work a non-traditional schedule (evenings and weekends) as necessary

Required Qualifications:
- Certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Current Licensure through the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners OR Licensed Physician Assistant by the Texas State Medical Board
- Current Texas Prescriptive Authority Agreement
- Current BCLS and ACLS Certification
- Current DEA License
- 3+ years of primary care experience
- Experience with treating patients in a virtual care setting
- Driver's License and access to a reliable transportation
Preferred Qualification:
- Conversationally fluent in Spanish
The salary range for this role is $110,000 to $166,500 annually based on full-time employment. Salary Range is defined as total cash compensation at target. The actual range and pay mix of base and bonus is variable based upon experience and metric achievement. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
