Lead Data Engineer, UKG, Inc., Lowell, MA (Remote)

Will serve as a member of our Business Intelligence Team. Will work with compiling and coding data from a multitude of data sources to create and provide business intelligence and analytics solutions to our business stakeholders. Will work with reports, legacy ETL (extract, transform, and load) toolsets and modern cloud data solutions to migrate data and reauthor existing reports and legacy ETL code to cloud solutions. Specific duties include the following:

  • Supporting the migration of legacy reports (SQL Server Reporting Services), on-premises Data warehouses (SQL Server and Oracle) and ETL solutions (SSIS and Power Center) to Azure.
  • Designing and developing modern data and business intelligence solutions using Azure cloud technologies to support the creation of a new analytics platform in Azure.
  • Providing continued support and enhancements for interim state on-premises reporting and ETL systems running SSIS and Informatica (Cloud & Power Center) and SQL Server Reporting services.
  • Analyze data, conducting data profiling, cataloging, and mapping for technical designs for existing and new Business Intelligence solutions.
  • Documenting technical data flows and designs to ensure the accurate development of reporting and data analytics solutions.
  • Working in Production support role (including weekend rotations) to troubleshoot and resolve issues at the earliest to minimize business impact.
  • Adhering to Business Intelligence and Data engineering development standards.
  • Migrating on premise legacy ETL data and code to a modern data platform in the cloud.
  • Performing source code management and thorough testing to ensure that analytics solutions provided are consistent with the quality and requirements of the business.

Requirements:

Position requires either: (i) a Bachelor's degree (or an equivalent foreign degree) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or a closely related field and 5 years of experience as a Business Intelligence or Data Engineer or (ii) a Master's degree (or an equivalent foreign degree) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or a closely related field and 3 years of experience as a Business Intelligence or Data Engineer.

Must also have 3 years of experience (which can have been gained concurrently with either primary experience requirement above) working with the following:

  • Create, maintain and work with the migration of different business intelligence solutions - reports, databases, or other technical solutions;
  • Legacy ETL and Reporting tools including SQL Server Reporting Services, Informatica Power Center/Cloud and SSIS and the design and management of ETL/ELT for the purposes of loading and reading data;
  • The Azure Data Ecosystem (including Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, Deltalake/Lakehouse, ADLS, Python/Scala, Power BI and LogicApps);
  • Migrating on-premise legacy ETL and Business Intelligence Assets and code to a modern data platform in the Cloud, including source code management as well as CI/CD using Azure DevOps (or similar tools) to support the Data Platform; and
  • C# and Python especially as related to ingestion of data from Web APIs and converting it from semi-structured to structured data and working with CRM, ERP and Survey systems, including their data structures and ingestion options.

This is a telecommuting position working from home. May reside anywhere in the United States.
