About the Role
We are seeking a strategic, analytical, and highly organized individual to join Uber's Central Safety team as a Program Manager for Personal Safety. This role will drive the development and execution of global safety programs, policies, and risk mitigation strategies, with a particular focus on personal safety risks in the delivery platform.
As a key player in our Global Safety team, you will work cross-functionally to align personal safety strategies across Uber's Mobility and Delivery businesses, manage critical global policies and OKRs, and support regional teams in implementing high-impact safety initiatives.

What You'll Do
Strategic Program Leadership
- Global Safety Program Oversight: Own and drive Uber's personal safety programs, ensuring alignment with the company's broader safety strategy.
- Global Program Review & OKR Management: Define, track, and manage key objectives and results (OKRs) to measure program success. Deliver program review materials and scorecards.
- Cross-Functional Influence: Serve as a subject matter expert on personal safety, driving alignment across Product, Data Science, Legal, Operations, and Safety Support teams.
Policy & Standards Development
- Policy Management & Ownership: Develop, refine, and manage global safety policies related to personal safety on Uber's platform, ensuring alignment with best practices and evolving risks.
- Minimum Safety Standards: Establish and enforce baseline safety requirements across Uber's Mobility and Delivery platforms.
Risk Analysis & Incident Trends
- Incident Trends and Analysis: Monitor, flag, and analyze incident response (IR) trends, using data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions at global and regional levels.
- Document Risks / Propose Controls: Evaluate safety risks for new product launches and market expansions, developing preventative safety controls for high-risk products.
Regional Coordination & Implementation
- Regional Coordination & Support: Serve as the primary liaison for regional safety teams, ensuring alignment in personal safety strategies and initiatives.
- Operational Problem-Solving: Provide ad-hoc analyses and propose solutions for regional safety challenges, including policy rollouts and strategic pivots based on emerging risks.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with local teams to drive adoption of safety initiatives and provide tailored support based on regional needs.
Driving Change & Safety Advocacy
- Driving Change Program Management: Lead Uber's Driving Change Program, overseeing the grant process in collaboration with the Global Policy team.
- Resource Development: Create toolkits, presentations, and educational materials to ensure smooth execution and understanding of safety initiatives across global teams.
- Communication & Influence: Craft clear, compelling narratives to advocate for safety measures internally and externally, ensuring stakeholder buy-in
Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in interpersonal violence prevention, safety, gender-based violence, consulting, program management, global operations, or related fields
- Bachelors degree obtained
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SQL or data analysis tools to evaluate safety risks and measure control effectiveness
- Proven program and project management skills, with experience setting OKRs, KPIs, and tracking outcomes
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to drive consensus across global, cross-functional teams
- Ability to analyze incident trends, safety risks, and mitigation effectiveness through a data-driven approach
- Ability to design and optimize processes and frameworks in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of influencing executive-level stakeholders.
- Experience working in global organizations or leading international safety programs.
- MBA or Master's degree in a relevant field is a plus.

For Chicago, IL-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$116,000 per year - USD$128,500 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$129,000 per year - USD$143,000 per year.
