About the Role
As the Marketplace Operations Lead, you have the unique opportunity to build and shape the Uber Eats business in Japan, one of Uber's strategically important and critical Delivery markets globally.
This is a critical role, where you will lead and manage a high performing team of 7 to balance the needs of all three sides of the marketplace - eaters, restaurant partners and delivery partners in order to have fast and reliable deliveries. You will test and deploy marketplace products, use data driven insights, automation and different levers to experiment and optimize the marketplace both at scale and across multiple edge cases. You will also need to be both strategic and operational, with excellent organizational and communication skills to manage multiple stakeholders in Japan and globally.

Your Impact in Role
- Lead and empower a team of 7 to manage the overall marketplace including courier, eater-structural pricing, real-time reliability and dispatch.
- Use analytics, market intelligence and complex data sets to develop solutions to business problems.
- Drive continuous improvement by leveraging data from the platform and operational insights to identify, surface, execute and follow-through on new processes or optimize existing processes to adaptively balance the needs of the three sides of the marketplace, drive network efficiencies and make deliveries fast and reliable.
- Scope and manage a portfolio of projects with the team, be accountable for project outcomes, deliverables and sharing of situation and progress.
- Partner with Regional and Global Product and Product Ops teams to experiment, launch and operationalize new products and features for the Japan marketplace.
- Communicate to senior Japan and Regional stakeholders on marketplace health, live and upcoming products and teams' projects status.
The Experience You'll Bring
- Experience with managing complex data sets and statistics, deriving insights while checking against real world conditions.
- Team management experience
- Strong communication skills
- Technical background in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, the Sciences or equivalent experience recommended.
- Collaborative and cooperative with a track record in engaging and influencing cross-functional teams in complex stakeholder management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced skills in programming and/or database (SQL).
