About the Role

The Japan Brand Marketing team plays a critical role when it comes to establishing deep connections with consumers representing the frontline of our business. They work closely with business stakeholders (Comms, Policy, Ops, S&P, R&I, Data Science, and Legal and CommOps) as well as external stakeholders (agency partners) to bring our products and brand to life in the market.

They're empowered and responsible to assist and deliver brand campaigns from strategy and brief through to execution and measurement ensuring everything is delivered as expected, on time and on budget. Our Marketing Manager will be involved in the development and execution of the annual marketing plans, leading end-to-end projects for Japan Marketing - from conceptualization, ideation, executiion and performance evaluation.

What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points:

  10. Manage and leverage agency partnerships for marketing success.
  11. Optimize agency resources to achieve marketing objectives.
  12. Support Overall Business Growth
  13. Contribute to the broader business growth strategy beyond marketing.
  14. Align marketing efforts with the company's overall expansion goals.
  15. Strategic Partnerships with KOLs
  16. Explore collaboration opportunities with KOLs on regulatory initiatives.
  17. Partner with Policy & Communications for regulatory support.

Basic Qualification:
  1. Brand Strategy and Creative Experience (mandatory): Working alongside the Senior Marketing Manager, you'll collaborate with the internal and agency teams to deliver strategic and creative marketing campaigns and projects that consumers care about.
  2. Marketing and Business Acumen: Using a deep understanding of the business priorities, the macro and micro factors impacting us and the global business, you'll ensure all campaigns and projects throughout the full marketing funnel are driving positive impact and are sufficiently evaluated taking on board key learnings.
  3. Collaboration: You'll work collaboratively with partners, internal stakeholders and agencies to maximize the impact of your work. Be renown for nurturing a culture of collaboration, be someone that inspires, motivates and clearly communicates to unite them to deliver the best work.
  4. Project Management: Manage multiple work streams, work under pressure to deadlines, own decisions, manage big budgets and communicate clearly at every level through the business.
  5. Good Balance Between Creative & Data-Driven Mindsets: You care about the number and what the data is saying, but you also can dig deeper into the creative and visionary side of what makes a successful marketing campaign.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Strong business acumen; you'll be a structured thinker with project management skills and attention to detail. You'll be able to work to tight deadlines at a fast pace and be capable of juggling several projects simultaneously. You'll also have the ability to take the initiative in a constantly-changing work environment with a willingness to adopt a generalist mindset.
  2. Self-motivated and proactive, taking the initiative to pre-empt problems or opportunities while still being a team player that believes by working together, we'll achieve greater success.
  3. A clear, confident and concise communicator with good relationship management, including strong written communication skills and the ability to bring to life the Uber brand in a way that is both consistent with our global brand positioning but also meaningful to local culture and customs.
  4. A strong customer-centric mindset - you are always thinking about how our customers interact with the brand.
  5. Fluency in Japanese. Buisness level English.
