Uber Direct is a newly launched 'Delivery as a Service' product that allows merchants to leverage Uber Eats' vast network of delivery partners to fulfill last-mile-delivery service for orders on their own app and websites. About role

We're looking for a passionate, well-rounded growth minded strategist with experience in strategic operations who will lead the Growth Strategy and Operations of Uber Direct in Japan. As a Growth Strategy & Operations Manager/Lead, you will be responsible for shaping the go-to-market strategy, enabling industry unique new capabilities, and developing investment frameworks, which are critical for the growth of Uber Direct, closely working with GM, Vertical Heads and Sales/AMs.

You will not only contribute to the top line by leading initiatives that foster revenue growth and operational scalability but also design the solution to unlock the untapped opportunities with Uber Direct in Japan, which require the extensive product knowledge as well as the business acumen to figure out the industry unique challenges.

This role will report into the Head of Operation and Strategy, Uber Direct Japan and will work closely with diversified key cross-functional partners, such as Sales, Account Manager, Sales Ops, Product, and Other Ops team.

What you will do:

  • Growth strategy : Support Uber Direct GM and Vertical Heads with short-term and long-term strategy building. Leverage data and insight of the macro environment to assist sound and bold decision making of Leadership.
  • Designing New Capabilities : Scope out cross-vertical/vertical-centric strategic capabilities and build solutions with both productized and operational approaches. Manage highly complex projects and materialize the enablement.
  • Mid-term strategic bets : Identify the strategic bet opportunity in mid-term and develop implementation strategy for Japan market.
  • Pitch Strategy : Identify blockers in the acquisition stage and develop a compelling pitch strategy/resources.
  • Sales enablement & Lead gen : Lead sales enablement & training, lead-generation activity to empower the Sales and Marketing organization on expanding Uber Direct.
  • Pricing Deal desk and Commercial Program : Govern the pricing of Uber Direct and develop the strategic pricing structure. Design the strategic commercial program fitting to the merchant life cycle, to accelerate the growth of our merchants, including the analysis of the performance of effectiveness of the program.
  • Team management (Qualified candidate only) : Build a highly motivated growth oriented team in Product and Commercial Ops domain

Experience you'll need:

  • Min 7 years of experience in Strategy or Operations in a start-up / scale-up or growing a business or other relevant experience.
  • Strong appetite for operational and tech topics, ability to juggle multiple priorities at the same time.
  • Analytical & critical thinking and experience with data-driven decision-making, ability to deal with data and exercise good judgment in ambiguous circumstances.
  • Ability to switch from strategic / conceptual thinking to pragmatic / operational topics, not afraid of rolling your sleeve.
  • Empathetic when dealing with different people; able to quickly build relationships with external and internal partners.
  • Great business acumen and judgment. Comfortable dealing with financial information and thoughtful about overall strategic choices. Ability to seize and prioritize opportunities based on feasibility and potential.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and can-do attitude.
  • High adaptability to change and ability to execute quickly.
  • Experience with SQL is a plus, or comfortable learning and using new software tools.
  • Full proficiency in English is must and Japanese is a plus.

Preferred experiences:

  • Experience with using SFDC is a plus
  • Experience in leading a growing team, setting the right expectations and objectives and driving the team toward success is a plus
