About the Role
We have a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented lawyer to join our Australia & New Zealand Regulatory, Investigations and Litigation team who will partner with the ANZ businesson a diverse range of regulatory advisory and contentious issues.
This is not your typical in-house role; it is a dynamic, fast-paced environment and needs a candidate who is agile and able to juggle multiple projects, re-prioritize quickly to address shifting business needs, and thrive in high impact/high profile situations.
This position will be based in Sydney and will report to Senior Legal Counsel, Head of Regulatory, Investigations and Litigation, ANZ.

- Provide trusted advice autonomously on a diverse range of regulatory and litigation matters across the ANZ rides and eats businesses.
- Partner with the business to advise on complex and wide ranging regulatory issues, operationalise regulatory requirements and monitor new regulatory developments.
- Lead the response to a range of regulatory investigations (including conducting interviews, preparing regulatory responses and engaging with various regulators).
- Manage a wide range of complex disputes and requests for information (including developing dispute strategy, drafting submissions, collating documents, drafting correspondence and negotiating settlements).
- Collaborate with various local and regional legal teams on product updates or launches, including advising on the regulatory aspects of those launches.
- Design and implement frameworks and implement initiatives to improve regulatory engagement, litigation processes and regulatory compliance across the business.
- Balance the need for rigorous compliance with pragmatic, creative advice to move the business forward and allow for continuous innovation and development of products.
- This is a hands-on role and you'll be expected to handle a very wide variety of significant and complex legal matters with short turnaround times.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years post-admission experience at a top law firm advising on complex regulatory issues, regulatory investigations and disputes for highly regulated clients.
- Qualified to practice in Australia.
- Prior in house experience would be a bonus, especially in the tech industry.
- Self-starter and self-sufficient.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (with a high level of emotional intelligence).
