Position Summary:

Trupanion is seeking a Senior SOX Analyst to join our growing SOX team. As a critical member of the team, you will collaborate closely with teams across the company to gain a strong understanding of the business and critically analyze and challenge our key risks, processes, and controls. This is a hands-on position that requires a candidate who is willing to dig into the details, but is still capable of maintaining a broader view of our internal controls as a whole.

This position is only open to candidates in the Seattle area. You will have a hybrid remote/in-office schedule that requires you to work from our casual, pet-friendly office 3 days a week.

  • Coordinate with the process and control owners to conduct walkthroughs and maintain the SOX business process control documentation .
  • Track and document IPE used in the performance of controls.
  • Test the design and operating effectiveness for SOX business process and IT SOX controls and identify deficiencies.
  • Perform a root cause analysis on any identified SOX and other compliance related control deficiencies; work with the control owners to remediate control deficiencies
  • Monitor, follow up on the status of remediation plans, and test the remediation of identified deficiencies.
  • Apply judgment to identify enhancements to processes and controls that most efficiently and effectively address risks
  • Work closely with our external auditors to facilitate the SOX internal control audit, including tracking PBC requests and due dates.
  • Assist in the risk assessment process to identify significant accounts and key controls.

Education, Registration & Certification / Experience:

  • BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA license preferred, but not required

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in public accounting at a major audit firm. Big 4 experience preferred.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Proficient knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, required
  • Detailed understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), SEC reporting requirements, and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
  • Critical thinking and ability to work independently
  • Effective communicator (both written and spoken)
  • Highly organized, with excellent time-management and follow-up skills and ability to balance multiple priorities

Compensation:

  • The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $100,000 on a full-time schedule
  • Along with the base salary, Trupanion employees may be eligible for monthly bonuses.
  • We want all employees to be invested in Trupanion's success, so we grant Restricted Stock Units to all new team members. Our new hire grants vest over 4 years.
