What You Will Do

As a Senior Cloud Applications Engineer with the Trimble Business Systems Group, you will have a key role in the development and maintenance of systems that enable the capture and processing of data from global industries in building & construction, agriculture, geospatial, natural resources, utilities, governments, transportation and others.

You will take a leadership role in software architecture, development, refactoring, testing, and maintaining new and existing code across database, services, and experience layers. You will know the importance of and have the ability to create high performing and fault tolerant code and provide analysis for improvements, while working with stakeholders at all levels, to provide business confidence. As part of a dynamic team embracing the Agile methodology, you will be able to react quickly to changing requirements, while guiding the organization through a longer term strategy, including leading the adoption of new technology. Other important elements of the role include:

• Develop and test integrations with cloud native technologies.
• Provide leadership in tech stack involving data, services, and presentation layers.
• Apply the principles of event driven data flows between systems.

What Skills & Experience You Should Bring

• Extensive experience developing and and maintaining code bases in the Java space
• Demonstrable experience in AWS ECS
• You may have some experience in JavaScript, SQL / MySQL but these are not essential
• High standards of code development and practices
• Experience working with stakeholders and leading projects
• Comfortable working in a team environment or alone
• Ability to solve complex problems that contribute to the organization's strategy

About Your Location

The Trimble Christchurch office is a modern building with access to a gym on site, cafes in the area and bordered by park reserves, while still being a few minutes from the central city. Most teams operate as hybrid workers, allowing the flexibility of working remotely a few days a week or in the office. A flexible work arrangement can be negotiated with your manager and the wider team.

About Our Division

The Business Systems Group in New Zealand, has been integral in the development of significant applications to solve business needs, and has a long history of working directly with business areas and corporate governance. Our team works as part of the Corporate division, which allows us to provide services to various business units within Trimble and to provide guidance on overall strategy. We currently are reporting up to the Digital Transformation Office, as part of the Cloud Platform division.
