A part of USDS Trust and Safety, Product Safety is a small-but-mighty team bringing together expertise of Product Managers across a variety of issues and feature verticals into one group. The mission of USDS Product is to safeguard TikTok and TikTok users in the areas of Minor Safety, Account Safety, Integrity & Authenticity, AIGC, Extreme Risk and other high impact areas.
We are looking for an experienced Product Manager to help expand our team's work delivering this mission. As a Product Manager, you will collaborate with data science, policy, engineering, operations, and Global Trust and Safety teams to develop strategies and build features that ensure user safety. You will need to wear a variety of hats as you work with these different teams in order to ensure project success.

This full-time position is based in San Jose, Los Angeles, or New York.
Responsibilities
- Drive the Trust & Safety product strategy for the US in one or more of the following areas: misinformation, deceptive networks of accounts, spam, fraud, AI-generated content, LIVE safety, Search Safety, Lemon8 Safety.
- Architect and implement safety systems to keep TikTok safe, including user-facing products, scaled content moderation and machine learning moderation
- Have a deep understanding of machine learning model development and measurement to partner with our Machine Learning Engineering (ie. Algo) teams to develop proactive detection for bad actors or violative content
- Lead the ideation, prioritization, and execution of initiatives within the Trust and Safety domain
- Lead cross-functional initiatives around user research, product ideation, KPI design, A/B testing and go-to-market
- Define the long-term product roadmap and OKRs; collaborate with partner teams on product, technical, and privacy decisions
- Ensure our products and strategies meet local and regional compliance, legal and security requirements
- Manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and constantly changing environment
- Work with global teams across multiple regions, time zones, languages; open to domestic and international travel
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Economics, Engineering, Business Management or equivalent
- Preferably a minimum of 5 years in Product Management for consumer-facing mobile, social media or SaaS companies
- 3 years in Trust & Safety or Risk Management roles
- Proven track record of leading successful product initiatives in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical skills to drive product decisions with data
- Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Knowledge of online digital safety and a deep understanding of abuse trends specific to US cultural norms and sensitivities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in understanding, detecting and moderating AI-generated content using Machine Learning or human moderation teams
- Experience in product management with cross-functional teams, including both technical and non-technical audiences, across different time zones, cultures, and languages
- Adept at collaborating with technical teams such as Data Science, Machine Learning and Software Development teams
- Expertise in Integrity & Authenticity, Fraud/Spam Detection, Deceptive Networks of Accounts, Trust & Safety, MisInformation, Search Safety, or related areas
- Understanding of safety-by-design principles and tech industry policies
- Experience managing products related to human and/or machine-based moderation for removing harmful content is highly desirable
- Your ability to work in a high tempo environment, adapt, respond to day-to-day challenges of the role.
- Your resilience and commitment to self-care to manage the emotional demands of the role.
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $156864 - $296020 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
