Product and Risk Communications Manager

About the Team
We're looking for an experienced communications professional to join our Product and Risk Communications team, part of TikTok's broader Trust and Safety and Technology communications organization. In this role, you'll support risk communications that help protect our platform, mitigate emerging risks, and build trust in the safety and integrity of our products.

You'll work cross-functionally across product, legal, and public policy to develop messaging that clearly explains how TikTok keeps its community safe and secure and play a key role in working with product teams to mitigate and manage risks in the development phase. You should be a strong writer, confident advisor in high-pressure situations, and able to translate complex safety, regulatory, or risk-related topics into clear and accessible narratives.

About the Role
TikTok's Product and Risk Communications team helps shape public understanding of how we keep our platform secure and our community protected. We lead proactive communications around product integrity, safety innovations, regulatory readiness, and risk response. You'll help identify risks in the product development process, give strategic advice on mitigations and support product launches.

Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic partner to internal teams on product risk issues, including providing strategic counsel to product teams in the development and review phase.
- Provide strategic counsel during product risk reviews and support rollout plans with communications input.
- Manage the development of global communications campaigns and materials that spotlight TikTok's product safety and risk mitigation efforts.
- Build and evolve TikTok's narrative on product safety through messaging documents, newsroom posts, statements, Q&As, and spokesperson materials.
- Support spokespeople with talking points, media prep, and issues management guidance.
- Work with regional PR teams to support them with clear, consistent resources to address questions about TikTok's product safety
- Identify emerging areas of product risk and proactively shape messaging to address them.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in communications, ideally in tech, safety or policy.
- Strong track record of translating complex or technical issues into clear, compelling narratives.
- Experience working with product, legal, and public policy teams on risk or incident-related matters.
- Proven media relations experience in risk, safety or technology sectors.
- Excellent writing, editing, and messaging development skills.
- Strong analytical judgment, with the ability to assess reputational risk and advise accordingly.

- Experience leading communications around product risk or safety-related incidents.
- Thrives in fast-paced environments, with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.

Job Information

[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $96000 - $211112 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
