Responsibilities
As a member of our Cross-Issue team, you will serve as a content and product policy expert working across various subject and product areas-from the TikTok For You Feed to AI applications. This team complements subject-matter experts focused on long-term policy development by responding to quickly developing business needs. The Cross-Issue team balances rigor and speed, ensuring safety remains a priority.
In this role, you will partner with subject matter experts (e.g., Mental Health, Hate & Harassment), policy enforcement specialists, and a range of cross-functional partners (e.g., Data Science, Product, Business Strategy) to develop safety principles and policies for TikTok's diverse and global user base.

Responsibilities:
- Develop defensible safety principles for all TikTok features and products.
- Collaborate closely with internal and external experts to assess areas of harm and design nuanced policy interventions. Support policy rule drafting to ensure outputs reflect policy intent and are consistent, understandable, and operable.
- Support the development of policy frameworks and rules for new products and features, as well as for emerging business priorities.
- Provide in-depth review and feedback to policy enforcement teams to ensure principles and consistent application of policy.
- Support safety strategy development for projects that span thematic areas and require rapid turnaround times, including policy responses to emerging and novel crisis events.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in Trust & Safety, Public Policy, Law, Academia, or a related field.
- Strong writing and executive communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex topics into concise and digestible materials.
- Deep understanding of technology, the Internet, social media, and/or platform content issues.
- High technical aptitude for understanding complex technologies, tools, systems, and issues.
- Ability to think both strategically and tactically, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of and experience with data science will be considered a plus.
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $117333 - $270000 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others.
