The Info Systems Analyst designs information systems that are appropriate for users' needs and consistent with the overall design of the organization's information systems architecture. Under limited supervision, this job is responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the organization's operating systems.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Formulates system scope through research and fact-finding to develop or modify moderately complex information systems.

  • Evaluates and implements changes to existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary.

  • Reviews flow charts, models, and procedures and feasibility studies to design possible system solutions.

  • Reviews technical documentation to guide system users and to assist with the ongoing operation, maintenance, and development of the system.

  • Collaborates with system analysts, engineers, and programmers to design systems and to determine project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, systems performance standards, and interfaces.

  • Identifies and documents all system constraints, implications and consequences of various proposed system changes.

  • Educates end users on system designs and functionalities through creation of training materials and conducting demos.

  • Evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of application operations and troubleshooting problems.

    The Client Services Technology team within TIAA is searching for a motivated, enthusiastic, proactive Senior Systems Support Engineer to join its Communication platform.   This technical engineer will be responsible for support of production applications and infrastructure. The Individual will analyze and execute technical support requests, incidents, issues, tickets and business continuity activities, to ensure flawless and quality delivery of services to end users.  This person will also work with the Manager and Technical Lead to assess the project progress and raise risks, develop mitigation plans and collaborate with other groups including development, architecture, and business teams.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide L3 support, perform analysis and research on Java/Spring Batch processes and Oracle databases
    • Create and maintain Operational support documentation with immediate or extended teams
    • Support and monitor daily batch cycle with emphasis on critical processing and dependencies while identifying areas of improvement in system performance or code quality
    • Take ownership of and investigate root cause of incidents or problems
    • Ability to deploy emergency patches or bug fixes in a timely manner
    • Identify opportunities for system reuse and system simplification
    • Analyze complex performance and capacity issues with systems / applications software and/or application components

    Required Skills: 

    • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer or in an applications support role for applications written in Java/ J2EE, Spring Framework, Spring Batch, Spring Boot, REST API, Servlets, JavaScript
    • 5+ years of experience working with Oracle, PL/SQL, Oracle Stored procedures, Packages, Functions, Data Modeling, Database optimization and tuning, analytical queries
    • 3+ years of experience writing Unix Shell scripts
    • 2+ years of experience with Message Brokers including IBM MQ, Kafka

         

    Preferred Skills:

    • 5 or more year’s production support experience.
    • Familiarity with the Hadoop framework including Scala, Spark,  Sqoop, HDFS, Hive
    • Familiarity with XML, XSL, JSON
    • Knowledge of troubleshooting tools such as  Splunk, Dynatrace monitoring, Kabana, Elastic Search (ELK Stack)
    • Familiarity with Enterprise Systems Hardware including Server, Network, Storage technologies
    • Familiarity with the Autosys Scheduling tool
    • Experience performing as the primary Technical support contact as a member of  a 7x24 support team
    • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

    Potential Salary: $110,500.00 USD

    Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
