As a Sr. UX Engineer you'll work closely with designers, software engineers, content strategists, accessibility specialists, and researchers to develop, grow, and maintain our global design system. About the Role
As a Sr. UX Engineer, you will:
- Create and build - Leverage your deep experience with responsive UI design methodologies and user-centered, iterative design processes. Create high-fidelity prototypes for UX research testing using industry-leading tools. Translate complex design languages into reusable code libraries. Develop scalable and accessible components that adhere to our brand and animation standards. Document your work comprehensively and communicate effectively with development teams.
- Be part of a collaborative team: Work closely with the UX Designers, Accessibility Specialists, Content Strategists, and UX Researchers in a collaborative team-oriented environment to lead the project from a UX development perspective, and create new components and tools to be used across our entire organization. Advocate for the user's needs while developing features that align to the needs of the user.
- Be an Effective Communicator: Share ideas, participate in peer-reviews, and exhibit strong listening skills. You justify and articulate development decisions during code reviews. You lead brainstorming sessions with product teams, and can share outcomes using your excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Be Curious & Innovative: Continuously update yourself with next generation user experiences, technology, and contribute to process development practices. Turn user research and usability feedback into easy-to-use solutions. Gather, analyze, and synthesize UX needs for complex product and user requirements.
About You
You're a fit for this role if you have:
Basic qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience developing large-scale, complex frontend web applications
- Bachelor's degree preferred; Associate's degree in a technology-related field and/or experience may be considered
- Familiarity with working in Agile development environment
- Strong knowledge of web standards and accessibility (W3C and WCAG 2.1 AA), interaction design and user-centered design principles
- Portfolio of work
- Knowledge of web standards, accessibility, CSS-driven layouts and manipulating the DOM
- Strong proficiency in React and Angular frameworks
- Ability to create production-quality CSS, SASS, HTML, and JavaScript for large, complex web applications with support for mobile and tablet devices
- Implement browser-independent designs and cross-browser issues (IE, Firefox, Safari etc) on all platforms
- Design experience with a good eye for aesthetics and detail
Preferred qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3/SASS
- Developing for mobile and tablet devices
- Understanding of Web Components, React, and Angular frameworks
- Experience with Stencil.js
- Ability to follow technical specifications and production processes
- Ability to create and update design tokens
- Ability to adjust graphics and create / optimize graphics assets as needed to complete designs
- Ability to work with source/version control software
- Aptitude to understand and build SEO/semantic solutions
- Understands iconography and SVG graphics and performance
- Ability to implement animation
