We expect the successful candidate to be based in Moscow.

Reuters is looking for a talented Photojournalist to join the team in our bureau in Moscow. We are looking for a team player and a self-starter with experience in covering breaking news, and with initiative to generate story ideas and inject a creative approach to storytelling.

They will have a good understanding of the news agenda in one of Europe's and Eurasia's most vibrant regions in its widest sense - from politics to sport to entertainment, culture and new business.

About the Role

As our trusted Photojournalist, you will:

  • Work on day-to-day news coverage and react fast to breaking news stories as part of the Russia Pictures team.
  • Be available to travel on assignments, sometimes at short notice.
  • Display an ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Ensure that safety newsgathering protocols are followed.
  • Work alongside colleagues from Text and Video to help create a truly unified newsgathering team.
  • Uphold Reuters Trust Principles of independence, integrity and freedom from bias.

About You

To be our Photojournalist, you will ideally have:

  • At least three years' experience in professional visual journalism and experience of working in a multimedia setting.
  • A personal track record of award-winning photography and video with experience of working in hostile environments.
  • Strong camera skills combined with an ability to pull a story together from start to finish.
  • Sharp eye for visual elements that are needed to make a good pictures and video story.
  • Excellent communication skills, an unflappable temperament and a passion for newsgathering and visual storytelling, experienced working in a team with visuals colleagues and journalists.
  • Basic picture and video editing.
  • Strong Russian and English language skills to work independently both with the Russia team and with editors and colleagues across the world.
  • Thorough understanding of the latest digital visual technologies for filming, editing, transmitting and sharing.
