Creative Manager - Copy (maternity cover)

The Senior Creative Manager will work into the Manager of Creative (copy) and in partnership with the Managers Of. Steer and deliver industry leading copy, strong advertising/brand/digital campaigns from concept to finished product across all media, across the TJX Europe brands. There will be a strong focus on social content. As the most senior copywriter on the team, they will act as a creative lead for various projects, across both brands, throughout the year.

Must have proven experience in writing and managing digital media, non-transactional content, social, in-store signage, radio and more. This role will effectively be the Copy Guru for TJX Europe brands.

Provide strong support to the Manager of Creative (copy) and deputise in their absence. Manage junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

Help steer the brand vision/copy tone-of-voice: Sign off work in the absence of Manager of Creative (copy). Be able to direct creative and lead any project without supervision. Be the bridge between internal creative, internal stakeholders and external creative functions.

Manage copywriters: Provide guidance, support and vision for direct report team. Manage, coach and develop direct reports, providing strong leadership. Support the Manager of Creative (Copy) and attend meetings when requested on their behalf and support on all matters related to copy development, talent management and hiring within the copy team.

Brand ambassador for TK Maxx and Homesense: Tone of voice expert with clear oversight on both brand's strategies.

Creative copy delivery

  • Direct, control and co-produce engaging best-in-class copy for two brands
  • Work closely with the Manager of Creative (copy) to develop our tone of voice and create compelling and engaging content
  • Find inspiring, innovative and creative ways to bring the TK Maxx and Homesense brands to life
  • Strategic oversight of all copy ensuring omnichannel campaigns
  • Direct creative concepting of campaigns, particularly when it comes to social
  • Challenge and innovate within The Creative Team

Team and Relationship Management

  • Line manage brand copywriters, providing guidance, support and vision.
  • Accountable for quality of all copy produced across all creative assets.
  • Stakeholdering and widely influencing creative across B&M to ensure collaborative work
  • Support Manager of Creative in recruiting talent
  • Collaborate with external creative agencies (OPR, Mindshare, W+K), setting and leading the brand tone of voice for all
  • Help set a fun, free and productive tone/way of working

Creative Operations

  • Review and sign off team's copy daily, giving feedback and guidance
  • Deputising Manager of Copy
  • Responsible for creating the campaign messaging matrix and feeding that to all writers in TCT
  • Brainstorm and share ideas without being precious. A flexible, creative and an integrated team member for both Creative Team and all agencies

Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Copy professional with qualification or working experience in creative writing, journalism or communications
  • Established within a creative copy team as a creative manager for a large retail business
  • Experience with social media and content creation essential
  • A creative thinker and idea generator with strong creative copywriting skills
  • An empathetic person who is good at managing and nurturing people
  • Ability to create and deliver to tight deadlines to ensure the timely delivery of work
  • Great team player with strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • Some experience in managing third party agencies to deliver results
  • Background in digital marketing advantageous
  • Passionate interest in fashion and homeware
  • Can self-sub, with a meticulous eye for checking copy
  • A positive, creative and influential personality
