Senior Manager, Employee Relations - APAC

Band 8

Reporting to Director of Employee Relations, EMEA and APAC

As a member of the Culture and Counsel platform, the Senior Employee Relations (ER) Manager will be responsible for conducting and/or consulting in relation to sensitive investigations into potential policy and/or Code of Conduct violations. The Senior ER Manager will act as a neutral party through all aspects of the investigation and will ensure a timely, fair, and quality process for all involved parties.

Additionally, the Senior ER Manager will provide expert consultation on higher risk ER issues such as performance management, ill-health, disciplinary proceedings and other corrective actions. They will provide advice on interpretation of local HR policies.

They will also be involved in providing labor relations advisory support and implementation of our global labor relations strategy in the region.

This position requires expert knowledge of professional and ethical investigation standards and/or human resources processes and procedures. The incumbent must possess the ability to quickly issue-spot employment and Employee Relations matters and be able to advance appropriately or suggest recommendations that align with our cultural values.

Although the position is predominantly to cover APAC, there may be requirements to cover global investigations.

The role will be hybrid with a combination of office based and remote working. The successful candidate will ideally be located in India or Singapore.

Key Responsibilities:

Investigations

Primarily responsible for investigating complaints of Employee Relations, bullying, harassment, and, with assistance, complaints of Sexual Harassment, Discrimination, and Retaliation.

Ensure a detailed investigation process, including investigation coordination, responses, and maintenance of accurate and detailed records and notes of the investigatory process.

Build comprehensive written investigation reports that clearly identify the issues investigated, summarize the evidence, make findings and recommendations, as well as identify root cause.

Resolve when a complaint needs to be examined for further review and/or investigation assistance.

Consultation / Advisory Support

Provision of advisory and consultation support across a range of ER issues such as performance management, ill-health, disciplinary proceedings and other corrective actions.

Assistance with interpretation of HR policies.

Labor Relations

Provision of labor relations advisory support and implementation of our global labor relations strategy in the region.

Ensure labor relations issues are identified at an early stage and responded to appropriately, in line with global strategy and with key collaborators updated and informed.

Other

Lead initiatives to strengthen culture programs focusing on ethical business practices.

Provision of training on ER issues for fellow HR colleagues and senior managers.

Ability to spot trends and support local HR in interventions to proactively support our cultural values and prevent ER issues arising.

Partner internally with ER colleagues and leaders, Employment law, and HR teams as appropriate to achieve responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required in HR, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting Employee Relations efforts or relevant HR experience required.
  • Experience conducting and managing human resources or employee relations investigations.
  • Experience of providing employee relations advice and consultations.
  • Ability to work independently and in a group setting with little direction and without direct supervision.
  • Ability to research information and analyze data to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations, and plans of action.
  • Strong project management, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong partnering, diplomacy, teamwork, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive information with absolute confidentiality and integrity.
  • Ability to multitask and deal with ambiguity.
  • Be a phenomenal teammate with a flexible, adaptable, and results-oriented approach.
  • Developing technical writing skills.
  • Knowledge of investigative practices, risk management, and employment law.
  • Knowledge of labor relations.
  • Strong understanding of applicable employment laws required.
